This is more popular than In and Out.
I highly recommend trying it!
The Pastry Standard:
You really can’t go wrong with their display case. From the iconic cheese rolls to the guava strudels, every single pastry is a 10/10. They manage to keep everything incredibly fresh, with that perfect “shatter” to the puff pastry that you only get from high-end bakeries.
The Standout – Guacamole and Cheese
Omelet Croissant:
I stepped away from my usual order to try this, and it was a revelation. It is a masterclass in flavor balance. Often, guacamole can overpower a breakfast sandwich or make the bread soggy, but here, it added a rich, cool creaminess that cut through the sharpness of the cheese perfectly.
The omelet was light and fluffy, tucked inside a croissant that was buttery, flaky, and held its structure until the last bite. It’s the perfect savory transition if you usually only go there for the sweets.
Pro Tip: If you’re visiting on a weekend, use the online ordering for pickup—it saves a ton of time, though the smell of the bakery while you wait in line is a treat in itself
This location is their newest and largest, and it really shows. The space feels bright, open, and very comfortable, making it my favorite Porto’s for sitting down with coffee and a pastry.
The staff are consistently friendly and patient, even when the lines get long. While wait times can be the only downside, ordering online makes pickup fast and easy — you can even add extra items at the pickup counter.
And don’t leave without the cheese rolls — hands down the best.
Those cheese rolls are the reason for the stop. They’re soft, slightly sweet, buttery, and filled with that perfectly balanced creamy cheese center. Fresh and warm, they’re incredibly addictive. It’s one of those items where you think you’ll pace yourself, but somehow they disappear fast. Grabbing a couple dozen isn’t overdoing it — it’s just planning ahead.
Beyond the cheese rolls, everything at Porto’s always looks amazing, from pastries to savory items, and the quality is consistently solid. The value for what you get is also impressive.
For us, it’s become part of the California road trip tradition. The drive doesn’t feel complete without that Porto’s stop. If you know, you know.
Last time I was here the weekend before my birthday and I ordered a few pastries, I had texted my mom to let her know I was going and asked what she wanted, unfortunately she texted back right as I was about to pay, I asked if I could add a few more things after and Yurani was so gracious about it. She never let me feel like I was a bother or that I was wasting time. In today’s “customer service” environment its easy to feel hesitant when interacting with workers since you never seem to know how they’ll react but this Porto’s and Yurani really put me at ease and as someone who struggles with anxiety I am truly grateful. Thank you especially Yurani!!!
My favorites here are too many to count. I usually come in and order everything off the fan favorite pastries list along with a beef and chicken plate. On the drinks side, my go to is the Porto’s Cortadito. I don’t know what’s in it but it keeps me wired for hours.
One thing I don’t love about this location is the parking lot is way too small. Sometimes I end up looping around until I give up and park illegally over at the West Covina plaza.
Overall still a must visit, just plan ahead if you’re driving!
We had all the potato balls, strudels, Cuban sandwich, steak torta, mango mousse, meat pies, and turkey, bacon sandwich. They were all fabulous!!
Thank you for a great meal and snacks for later!!
Despite how packed the place usually gets, they’ve got an excellent system in place for taking orders, which helps move the line quickly.
That said, the food is also amazing today Baldwin was our server he recommended a turkey & candied bacon sub on press croissant also the chicken Milanese they both were amazing he was so helpful to us the entire time. I highly recommend this to others!
