The food here was really, really good. Probably some of the best tasting food I have had from a restaurant in a long time. However, there are two problems. The first is that it is extremely smoky and rich. The second is that it is extremely expensive, and the portion sizes are rather small for said price.
If you are not used to eating this kind of food, you will for sure have adverse reactions to it. I went as part of a family gathering, and they all ordered things like the Smoked Mac & Cheese, the brisket, beef sandwiches, etc. while I got myself a chicken sandwich. At the end of the night, everyone except for myself had massive heartburn, stomach pain, and acid reflux issues. I was the only one who didn’t suffer at the end of the evening because I have to take pantoprazole for my gal bladder; but even on that heavy duty medication I still had a stomach ache.
The service was really good, and really fast. Everyone was super kind, and the front area where you order is really nice. So long as you stick to the front area the atmosphere is great, but the back area (where I think you can eat if you don’t order out), just looks like an empty warehouse.
So, while I would recommend this place, just make sure that you take some tums before and after you eat; so you won’t regret the hole this place burns into your bank account later on in the evening.

Awesome BBQ spot tucked away in Rockland. Stopped by after ice fishing and the brisket was killer, great sauces, reasonable price. Really nice people working there.

The bbq space in Ottawa has just been elevated! Owner Chris has his hand on every piece of protein before it is smoked. Pork burnt ends trimmed perfectly, brisket that’s juicy and has an incredible bark, pulled pork on creamy Mac n cheese, every item had its own distinct seasoning and flavour. Don’t pass on the beans and cornbread either!What an incredible food experience. Well worth the extra few minutes on the road.
I can’t wait to review the other menu items. It’s so obvious how Chris is passionate about making the best bbq in the city, and he’s doing it!! Save room for dessert( or take it home like I did)

Junior & The Kid BBQ is hands-down one of the best restaurants around! My husband and I absolutely love this place. They specialize in smoked BBQ meats, and every single dish we’ve tried has been phenomenal. The pork belly, burnt ends, brisket, ribs, pulled pork, smash burgers, cornbread, coleslaw, tacos (our new favorite go-to meal!), and even their fun Rice Krispie squares are all bursting with flavor. The tacos in particular are among the best we’ve ever had anywhere.
What makes this spot even more special is the care they put into everything; sourcing their meats from a local butcher, using local ingredients whenever possible, and crafting their own homemade rubs and sauces that are out of this world. The quality control is unmatched, and it shows in every bite.
The staff are warm and welcoming, and the owner goes above and beyond; always friendly and happy to chat, making the experience even better. We’ve never once been disappointed with an order, which says a lot these days.

Seriously the best BBQ ever! Rockland is so lucky to have this gem – we rarely order take out but when we do, it’s from here.

Both first and second time the food and service was absolutely amazing.
First time we ordered the pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, beans, Mac and cheese and potato salad and all was so juicy and flavourful.
Second time going, ordered the brisket sandwich again, created a sandwich with the jerk chicken and my god it was delicious, definitely got a kick to it but loved the mango and cilantro added to the top. Ordered more beans because we always need more, so delicious
Honestly fantastic job, we love you guys and all your pairings of mouth watering perfection. We’ll be trying the tacos next time and ribs for sure. By far the best lunch spot we’ve ever stopped at. 100% recommend.

Arms wide open to welcome you in—Chris and his staff are truly exceptional. The hospitality alone makes you feel right at home, but the food takes it to another level. The ribs are by far the best we’ve ever had, tender and full of flavor. Paired with a side of beans, everything is finger-licking good. An amazing experience all around! Highly recommend!

I absolute loved their Brisket Mac and Cheese. It was so delicious and not bland like most Mac and cheese. We also had their beans which had very nice bbq sauce on them. Sucks that I don’t live close to Rockland at all or else this would be a weekly staple.
