As I eat my Big Back Dinner, 2pc Whitings with green beans and yams, I feel I have reach a place of serenity. The meal is so seasoned and delicious. Every bite reminds me of grandma and mommy’s soul food cooking. Rest in peace ladies! The food reminds me of them so much. The atmosphere is so peaceful and clean.

Ate here for the first time today. Ordered the wings with mac and green beans. The total cost was $22.00 kind of pricey. The fountain drink was $3.25 cents way to high. The chicken wings were pretty good the mac was average but the green beans tasted like they dropped a whole container of salt in it. I informed them and was told the Owner was informed. I actually like the little set up in here and they play good music. But the price plus those green beans will be enough to keep me away from here. Overall I will give this place. 2.8 out of 5.

I should’ve listened to the reviews before ordering from here. I let my stomach get the best of me because the food was horrible. I ordered the salmon and rice bowl. The salmon was still raw, rice was not fresh, onions and peppers seemed to be on the old side. Ordered the banana pudding because I was told it was fresh, but I never had banana pudding so expensive without any bananas in it. The portion size was small for the price. Overall, I will never eat here again because I don’t do raw meat and unfresh food! Not to mention I was harassed by some man standing by the register that was talking to the cashier. I can honestly discredit the guy next door that said the food was good but the wait was long…because my experience was the opposite!

As soon as we saw the name and checked out the menu, I just knew the food was going to be fire. We were not disappointed. The food is well seasoned and good size portions. I had the whiting fish and my friend had the pork chops. The whiting was hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Their mac’n’cheese is just the way I like it, you’d think it was made by your favorite auntie. The yams and cabbage also well flavored. We will be back to try their chicken wings, rice bowls, and desserts. The restuarant is small, but you can dine in. It’s also very close to the River’s Casino so I would definitely make it a stop before hitting the slots.

Big Backs Eatery was exactly what I hoped the food would be. This was my very 1st visit and I was pleasantly surprised by the hostess / cashier eagerness and happiness to take our order. These days that’s unheard of.

This spot is so poppin there’s almost not enough parking
No drink refills even if you eat inside. Only refills fountain drinks.
Some of the dining chairs were cushioned and some were not
Long wait times
Go check them out just be prepared to wait. U can also wait in your vehicle. It’s worth the wait!

Called in my order the young lady who answered pretty snappy ordered turkey chops cabbage Mac and cheese it’s my own fault listening to these folk on social media they do not know good food! Im convinced i need to stop wasting my money and cook at home! Turkey chops smothered in gravy onions smothered to me means submerge they were not the cabbage hard and bland! Mac and cheese a disappointment in my Mac specialz voice ! I pass on this spot

Today we visited Big Back Eatery, and it was absolutely worth the trip! I ordered the turkey wings, yams, and cabbage — everything was seasoned perfectly and full of flavor.
I drove all the way back to North Carolina from Portsmouth, VA, and even after an hour on the road, the food was still warm and delicious. The portion size, presentation, and temperature were all on point.
The wait for my food was reasonable, and the overall experience was fantastic. I can’t express enough how satisfied I was — I’ll definitely be back!

Tried this place for the first time after seeing it on social media. I ordered wings and Rasta pasta. The man who was at the register was extremely friendly and attentive. The wings were good, the sweet chili sauce is really good, the fries were fresh and seasoned. Now the Rasta pasta…. No. First of all it’s WAY overpriced for the small portion. Secondly, it wasn’t Rasta pasta in any way. They used red, yellow, and orange peppers (this is important because it’s where the pasta gets its name). And the meat inside was like diced up hotdogs. The flavor was okay, but again it didn’t give Rasta pasta. Extremely disappointing.

When I first heard of this place I thought it was a joke until I looked it up. I went there and the food was A M A Z I N G. Large portions and everything was so flavorful. Customer service was A1 and the restaurant was very clean. I got smothered pork chops mannnnnnnn oh mannnnnnn was it good. I had to talk to the cooks and tell them how good everything was. I will definitely be going back.

I was also given all drumsticks, which I did not request. I assumed the order would include a mix of wings and drumettes.
While I really enjoyed the atmosphere and overall environment of the restaurant, the food itself was disappointing. At this time, I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience. Hopefully, this was just an off day and the cashier needs to put on a smile on her face.
