The restaurant is small and we ordered and was served and that was it. The server then put her head down on a corner table and went to sleep. The owner sitting right opposite of her was busy on his computer.
The food was alright and not cheap considered the portion and the service. The condiment containers were rusty, filthy and looked really old and never cleaned.
I can see why the server didn’t think she needed to serve us, as they charged 15% tips automatically on the bill and they charge another 3% on top of that if you use a credit card. When we paid while the server was still sleeping, the owner didn’t say anything at all, not even a “thank you”. Needless to say, we are never going back.
Food is amazing every time, it is very rare to find authentic style Taiwan food. Their potions are good for the usually small dish type of food, like breakfast egg omelets, dumplings, and congee.
9/2023: We found this location online and came for brunch on Sunday. I have not had Taiwanese food for years, and I was looking forward to trying their offerings. I ordered a little too much for myself and got Taiwanese meat ball, spicy dried Tofu with anchovies, Taiwanese meat sauce over rice with hardboiled egg, and YiMei rice roll with mustard green. I was truly 眼大肚子小 at this point
My companions ordered 4 more items, and we had a table full of goodies. The food was pretty good and very similar to Taiwanese street food taste. I packaged up the leftover and kept thinking next time, we should come with a cooler with ice to get some of these home to AZ. We definitely will be back next time we are in town.
EDIT: They do post by the tableside that they charge a 3% fee for non-cash transactions, so pay cash if you wish to avoid it.
We walked in on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm and we were the only customers there. We ordered the salted rice roll, hot and spicy wontons, squid fishball soup and stinky tofu. Our food came out promptly and they were delicious!
Everything was a 10/10 with also informative postings around the shop indicating a 3% fee for credit card users. Which was fine. But when the bill came there was a 15% mandatory gratitude fee added onto the total bill making a meal that’s supposed to be breakfast (cause I came around 10 am) ridiculously expensive. I don’t know if the recent policy applies to all states but there was a recently established policy for restaurants where mandatory gratitude is no longer allowed. So in total, I paid for 2 food items and 2 drinks came out to be $50 breakfast meal…kind of not worth it in my opinion.
Salty soybean milk was perfect. Not too salty, they added preserved vegetables which some places don’t and it was perfect.
Baked need sandwich was a surprised. Didn’t expect the flaky wrapping was so good. Not too heavy, flavor just right. Beef were shredded and easy to eat and flavorful. Sauce not overwhelming. Impressive.
Salty rice roll was also impressive. The ingredients were just the right proportion. Flavor was just right. Ingredient was fresh. I’ve had some popular places where the fried donut inside was really hard. This one was
