The bar and atmosphere are mediocre, but the staff is incredible. Jeanine in particular was THE BEST!!! We came for a girls weekend and she gave us all the best recommendations and plans for our trip. Then, we left the bar to go to dinner at one of the restaurants she recommended and she showed up nearly 40 mins later since someone in our group had left their hat behind at the bar. That’s true small town hospitality thanks to a truly great bartender!

Since moving to Gig Harbor in 2021, Ashley, Jan, and Jeanine have made me feel right at home!
The service is friendly, professional, and fun.

Gig Harbor Brewing has two locations, the Gig Harbor taproom and the actual brewery, which is located in Tacoma.
They have a selection of beers and a cider or two on tap. Dead Mans Island IPA is my favorite. The cider on tap is not a GH Brewing product but is popular as well. Give it a try.
If you’re on the move, they have a self-service cooler loaded full of beers to-go.
The taproom is located at the Boatyard right on the Harbor with great views of the harbor and the small pavilion and park next door, which is home to many activities year round.

Hungry? GH Brewing has a small selection of bagged goodies available in-house to snack on. Or directly next-door, the adorable Gig Harbor Trolley is offering up a great menu from burgers, salads, fish-n-chips, and chicken fettuccine. You are free to order up and bring your meal into the taproom to enjoy with a nice cold beer!
See you there!

Update: It’s February 2025, and Gig Harbor Brewing has just changed ownership. Along with the new owners comes a new name, Evergreen State Brewing.
I’ve already met the new owners, and my first impressions are positive.
I loved Gig Harbor Brewing as it was, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter.

Bartender was friendly, and we decided to sit inside at the bar and talk with the locals.

Met a swimmer of Olympic potential and good conversation was had.

Tender helped with local next stop suggestions. Great smiles and affordable beverages made this a great place to visit.

Name changed/new ownership/something from previous reviewers — it’s now Evergreen State Brewing Co in June 2025.

We were doing some bar hopping along the harbor and this place was just OK. Glad to see they have some NA options. We all tried the local beers of course, the IPA and the Blonde. They were meh. There are adirondack chairs outside and the view from the north side of the wraparound deck is lovely, we watched a wedding take place in the park below.

Great service, wonderful environment, definitely coming back again! Had a great time and loved my Giggly Blonde!! It’s my favorite! But the Black cherry stout tasted like cherry soda, might have to get that one next time… I loved the little window seats and growing personality ❤️ can’t wait to see how this place develops more! The board games under the seats were a great little extra touch!

The Tacoma taproom is a cool location with a chill vibe (more taprooms need couches), delicious food and fine beer. Any brewery with a CDA is always a keeper for me.

Love their beer, it’s five stars, e.g. Racing Rooster Red, Below Deck Porter. Have purchased kegs and the process is easy. Staff here are very nice, patient, and helpful. Some fun events like trivia night, their weekly e-mail is creative. Some good promotions. Hours are a bit limited. The Gig Harbor taproom does not serve food, but allows food to be brought in e.g. from the excellent Trolley cafe next door. It’s relaxing and fun to have a beer here.

I managed to randomly come into this bar. And I felt so welcome and it was just nice. There was no weird vibes even though I’d never been there.
Ended up meeting one the gentlemen who actually brews the beer. Very much enjoyed my visit.
Would highly recommend

This is a nice quiet spot. Large area to sit in air-conditio on at 80 degree day with 3 TVs watching the Mariners on 4th of July! There are small tables outside also to view the bay as well. The best part of all this was the very professional and pleasant lady at the counter. She handled the long line and all the people all by herself! Nothing was really open after 2pm here. She deserves a raise!

We loved our lager and cider. We also was able to bring in our food from “the trolley” next door.

Both experiences from each establishment, great!

Come visit a local!
