My wife has a severe dairy allergy. She ordered door dash, put on the order no cheese or sour cream. She then called them and informed them she just placed the order and wanted to double down on informing them of her allergy. They told her they see the order as it came through and they will inform the cooks.
The food arrives and there is sour cream and cheese. I notified the Mgr again and he stated, “I’ll talk to the cooks”.

The food is consistent and the prices are reasonable considering the unnecessary economic damage done by the last administration. The service was great and the atmosphere is spot on. The dining room was clean, our table was clean. It’s obvious they make their own tortilla chips, which are fresh and very good. The salsa is delicious, with only a slight kick, not horrendously spicy but, could use a bit less cilantro, as it almost overpowers the other flavors of the salsa.
I had the Molcajete. I love the Molcajete. I always order the Molcajete because it’s this wonderful blend of steak and shrimp with rice and beans and a bit of cheese. It comes with this giant pepper that scares me because it looks hot as hell but, I’ll have to get brave the next time I go there and see exactly what it is. The dish itself is plated well… Actually, that’s an understatement. THEY SERVE IT TO YOU IN A FRIGGIN CRUCIBLE THAT LOOKS LIKE THE AZTECS MADE IT THEMSELVES AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE A GOD WHEN IT’S PUT IN FRONT OF YOU! ORDER ONE! They’re pricey, about $25-30 I think but, DUUUUUDE…. I’m telling ya, I’ve never “experienced” food until El Salto put this in front of my face. I’ve never ordered a dish that invoked feeling until I ordered this dish. I don’t even look at anything else on the menu. I can get a burrito, sopes or a torta anywhere but, you can only get the Molcajete at El Salto.
Friggin medieval times doesn’t even serve a dish like this and they put dudes sword fighting and jousting in front of you.

I was told it’s a newly open location now it’s one of my top three favorites of Northwest Indiana restaurants their portions are fantastic drinks are spectacular and caused a great conversation between us for their creative glasses service was done with smiles and appreciation the menu is budget friendly and reasonable for top end meals El salto’s restaurants are definite yes for lunch dinner or take home it’s placed in a new strip mall it has very clean table floors washroom facilities this was a 100% positive experience for our group not one thing we could complain about at all not that we wanted to enjoy

Good food. Great chips and salsa. Very good margaritas. Slightly on the steeper side but good. Service can be hit or miss. Have had some great service and other times vowed to walk out and not be back. Atmosphere seems on par with other similar fare…bright, cold, uncomfortable seating and just tables. The music in Cedar Lake location is between awful and awful-er. It likens to Mexican hip-hop rap dance “music” (noise) that was rejected by hip-hop rap and dance folks. It is terrible. And in the winter time, layer up because the heat is set at chilly. No fun eating with your coat on.

Twice now I got the ground beef enchiladas and both times I was severely sick after. Idk if they’re not fully cooking the meat or what but definitely stick to all the other meats. My husband had chicken and steak and he’s been fine.
