My wife and I had a reservation on Sunday, November 24th at the Igloo Restaurant at The Davenport in Spokane. Let me start by saying the staff was wonderful. Our server was attentive, friendly, and professional. The ambience was lovely. The igloo setting is unique and charming. These people genuinely worked hard and earned every penny of their tip.

But the food? Absolutely HIDEOUS.

For $250 (tip included), we expected something special. What we got was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had at this price point. I’m a regular at The Davenport. I’ve stayed there plenty of times. Their morning buffet is solid. So I had expectations.

This meal felt like someone took leftover breakfast from the previous morning, warmed it up, and tried to pass it off as a holiday dinner.

The turkey was an absolute joke. This wasn’t carved from the breast. This was that processed, pressed garbage you get from the deli counter at the grocery store when you ask for shaved lunch meat. You know the stuff. Slimy, weird texture, tastes like chemicals and sadness. That’s what they served us. For $250.

The potatoes were some kind of bizarre quiche situation that was barely lukewarm. Not warm. Not hot. Just sitting there in this sad, congealed state like it had been sitting under a heat lamp since breakfast service ended. It was inedible.

Everything on that plate was pseudo cold. Nothing was fresh. Nothing was properly heated. Nothing tasted like it was made with any care whatsoever. This was cafeteria food at five star prices.

I’ve had better Thanksgiving meals from Boston Market. I’ve had better turkey from a gas station sandwich. That’s not an exaggeration. That’s how bad this was.

For $250, this is completely unacceptable.

The Davenport is a beautiful, historic hotel. The staff clearly cares. But whoever is running that kitchen should be absolutely ashamed of what they’re sending out. This wasn’t just disappointing. This was borderline offensive.

The only redeeming part of that $250 was the tip our server received. They were lovely and did everything right. The kitchen failed them. The kitchen failed us. The kitchen failed everyone who paid premium prices for bottom tier food.

Bottom line: The igloo experience is charming, the staff is great, but the food is an absolute trainwreck. Save your money. Go literally anywhere else for Thanksgiving dinner. You’ll get better food at Denny’s for a tenth of the price.

Avoid unless you enjoy wasting money on reheated garbage.

Outdoor Igloos. Neat thing to do during these Pandemic times with every restaurant closed to inside seating. the domes are pretty cool and nicely decorated. Could use a bigger more powerful heater as the the tiny one in the corner only raises the temp about 10 degrees. Be sure to bring a jacket. The charcutuerie board was good. The almonds were awesome, some of the best I have had. The olives were marinated in a rosemary oil that was great as well. Cheeses were nice. The salami is thin sliced and looks like standard deli meat, which was a bit disappointing. Service was great. Had a Bluetooth speaker in the igloo to play our music from our phone. The cocktails were really good and fun to try. Was hard to get through $100 of alcohol between 2 people, but we got within $5 and then took a beer to our room. 🙂 Overall, a great and fun experience.

The igloos feel like a fun movie set, and all about relaxing with food and drinks. The igloo zips open like a tent, allowing the server to bring beverages. Upon arriving, our igloo had a large fruit and vegetable enhanced charcuterie board with house made hummus, pickled asparagus, olives, Mediterranean crackers, fig jam, varietal carrots, celery, and European cheeses, and fresh fruits. Each igloo has a Bluetooth speaker so you can relax to your own tunes. The igloo’s circular space enhances conversation and connection. Service was welcoming, prompt and didn’t rush our 90 minutes of igloo bliss. Brings your friends and loved ones to this Spokane terrace gem.

Don’t waste your money. I could think of thousands of things I would rather spend $100+ dollars on. It was absolutely criminal for the Davenport Grand to charge $85 per person plus tax plus included gratuity for disgusting meat and cheese from Costco and deviled eggs. We left hungry and cold.

My husband and I stopped in for a drink. The bill was $46 for 2 drinks. Outrageous. The bartender failed to mention that a martini was an automatic double-shot charge. We’ve never experienced this before. Never will again. Will not return and would not recommend.

I took my partner here for the igloo experience. The location was amazing – the set up of the igloo was perfect. The service was also solid. One gripe – it’s a bit expensive for what you get, the food was yummy but not worth the price or the 30$ tip that is automatically added to your bill.

Customer service is non-existent. I tried contacting them over a charge I disputed because of a reservation cancellation. I was 45 minutes past the 48-hour cancellation deadline. It was for 12/14 which was a busy weekend and I’m positive they were able to refill my cancellation because the had 47!hours and 15 minutes notice. I was charged $125 for NOTHING. I will never dine with anything related to the Davenport again. They are thieves .

We tried to book an igloo and the customer service was horrible. They were rude and I honestly couldn’t see myself giving them any money. So disappointed. My family was really looking forward to going. Customer service still matters. There are lots of other places I will spend my money, but not here.
