But the food? Absolutely HIDEOUS.
For $250 (tip included), we expected something special. What we got was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had at this price point. I’m a regular at The Davenport. I’ve stayed there plenty of times. Their morning buffet is solid. So I had expectations.
This meal felt like someone took leftover breakfast from the previous morning, warmed it up, and tried to pass it off as a holiday dinner.
The turkey was an absolute joke. This wasn’t carved from the breast. This was that processed, pressed garbage you get from the deli counter at the grocery store when you ask for shaved lunch meat. You know the stuff. Slimy, weird texture, tastes like chemicals and sadness. That’s what they served us. For $250.
The potatoes were some kind of bizarre quiche situation that was barely lukewarm. Not warm. Not hot. Just sitting there in this sad, congealed state like it had been sitting under a heat lamp since breakfast service ended. It was inedible.
Everything on that plate was pseudo cold. Nothing was fresh. Nothing was properly heated. Nothing tasted like it was made with any care whatsoever. This was cafeteria food at five star prices.
I’ve had better Thanksgiving meals from Boston Market. I’ve had better turkey from a gas station sandwich. That’s not an exaggeration. That’s how bad this was.
For $250, this is completely unacceptable.
The Davenport is a beautiful, historic hotel. The staff clearly cares. But whoever is running that kitchen should be absolutely ashamed of what they’re sending out. This wasn’t just disappointing. This was borderline offensive.
The only redeeming part of that $250 was the tip our server received. They were lovely and did everything right. The kitchen failed them. The kitchen failed us. The kitchen failed everyone who paid premium prices for bottom tier food.
Bottom line: The igloo experience is charming, the staff is great, but the food is an absolute trainwreck. Save your money. Go literally anywhere else for Thanksgiving dinner. You’ll get better food at Denny’s for a tenth of the price.
Avoid unless you enjoy wasting money on reheated garbage.
Great views of downtown, relaxing environment, delicious cocktails.
