It’s inspiring to see a local restaurant like Frenchman Street Food committed to bringing healthy, plant-based food to the community at prices that are genuinely affordable. The meals are fresh, nourishing, and thoughtfully prepared, and it’s clear they care about making wellness accessible to everyone—not just a luxury. This is the kind of business that strengthens a neighborhood.

We’re so sad we’re only visiting and don’t live here. This is the best vegan food we’ve had in a very long time. Everything we got was so delicious and creative, he even makes “egg” yolk sauce to dip your breakfast in! Amazing! They had tons of hot sauces for my husband to choose from but thankfully not everything from the menu was hot so I was able to get some really delicious food too. If we were locals we’d be here all the time!

Frenchmen Street Food is a cozy and eclectic little restaurant in Gainesville which serves absolutely phenomenal vegan Po’Boys and other Cajun delights! I split a Breakfast Po’Boy and a Cajun Tofu Po’Boy with a friend and both were truly fantastic. I also tried a side of their Red Beans & Rice which was super tasty Additionally, the people who worked there were very kind and created a welcoming environment. Overall, I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back to try more of the menu. I am very grateful there are restaurants like this in the world ❤️

Very cool atmosphere, friendly people, and the best red beans and rice I ever had.
Also love that you can choose between a table or a seat at the bar, which faces an open kitchen. It’s fun to see them prepare the food and reassuring that nothing is hidden.

Okay, if you haven’t eaten at Frenchmen Street Food, what is wrong with you!? Kidding, but trust me, whether you’re vegan, whole food plant based, or still immersed in the Standard American Diet, you’ll love this place and this food. Service is fantastically friendly, thanks, Megan! Food is plentiful (we had it for lunch the day after), and prices are entirely reasonable. The ambiance is like something you’d see in, well, The French Quarter way down in NOLO. The only downside to this great restaurant is that it’s open just four days a week! So pick your next Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, get your hungry tuchus on down to 439 S Main St, Gainesville, Florida and be prepared for terrific eating experience. Thanks Tim & John et al. We’ll be back!

Absolutely amazing place to eat. The food was so good and the service was top notch. I am NOT vegan and I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I had the cornbread combo with red beans and rice and lemonade. The cornbread was so delicious that I bought another piece to take home. Give this place a try, you’ll be glad you did.

This was my first time visiting Frenchman Street Food, and I’m so glad I did! It’s exciting to see a fully vegan restaurant in Gainesville. We ordered the breakfast po’ boy and the chicken po’ boy with sides of roasted red potatoes plus red beans and rice. My mom and I swapped sandwiches so we could try both—absolutely delicious. The bread was perfect for a po’ boy: soft inside, crunchy outside. I also loved the variety of hot sauce options!
The vibe is awesome and inviting, and I was thrilled to see that brunch is served all day (a big plus for a brunch person like me). John was super sweet and friendly, and the whole staff went above and beyond to make sure guests were comfortable even though the A/C was out that day. We sat outside and had no issues, but I give the team major credit for working through the heat and keeping everything running smoothly.
I’ll definitely be back to try more menu items—slowly but surely, I think I’ll make my way through the whole menu!

Friendly staff, cute decor. Small inside. So many vegan brunch and lunch options. Rice and beans, barbecue soy curls sandwich. Delicious.
August: another delicious lunch here. We try and stop when we are in Gainsville and they are open. I had the barbecue pork sandwich with cabbage and onions. Hub had rice and beans.
