The food was amazingly tasty and fresh for about the first 6-8 months of being open. Afterward, the service was really crappy and uninviting. The barbecue ribs became more fat than meat, the chicken quesadilla became more cheese than chicken, and other food choices like sides on the menu would frequently be unavailable. The owner seemed very nice at first, but he quickly gave up on our little community. He keeps this place open to run his catering business, but it’s been more of an embarrassment for this neighborhood. In my opinion, maybe he’ll open his doors back up when gentrification has taken over and certain people are no longer soliciting his business. Let someone else in there that wants to invest in its people.

Fantastic addition to the near east side! Smoked brisket was soo tender and juicy. The smoked tofu and the pulled pork were also delicious. Carry-out was super fast. Service was beyond friendly and welcoming! They have homemade sodas and to-go beers in cans for carry-out, too. Small dine-in area but great atmosphere and people.

Finally made it to Gomez BBQ today! I got to have the Sunday breakfast sandwich a day early … triple decker breakfast sandwich with such amazing flavor and a cold brew with vanilla … yum yum yum. My only wish would be living closer. For the dude who said the portions were small well this sandwich was massive. Maybe he is used to poor quality food at a fast food joint. I love a small business with a big ❤️ any day of the week. Anyway can’t wait to be back on the east side to try lunch.

This was a good surprise. The bbq was good, the portion size was nice and it was affordable. The location isn’t ideal in my opinion and I think they could do well as there own stand alone restaurant if they really wanted to. There’s some unique sodas to try there as well. Overall this is a win and definitely worth checking out if you happen to be in the area.

Affordable yet classy. This is the best casual spot for bbq in the city. The pulled pork was incredible, but I should’ve asked for more bbq sauce because it’s so good. The sides I tried were pretty amazing too. Potato salad was good, but Spanish corn all day! Gotta try the beans next time around. Good selection of beer and wine.
They also have what appears to be a super expensive espresso machine, so I imagine the morning breakfast crowd is substantial. This place did it right.

Loved their loaded tots! Had both brisket and pulled pork and they were delish. I could have used a little more sauce, but I had both the BBQ and the hot sauce and they were tasty. I guess I’m a saucaholic.

My wife found Gomez BBQ on a Google search. We were needing a catered order for an event. We visited in wanting to try the food beforehand. Holly was working, and was friendly, knowledgeable and took really good care of us. The sampler plate and chicken quesidilla were excellent.
Mike Gomez prepared chicken and baked beans for our event and people were highly impressed with the preparation, flavor and execution of his product. His ribs, beef brisket and pulled pork were enjoyed by myself, my wife and my brother and sister in law. Cajun potato salad in point. Greens very flavorful. This is the best BBQ I’ve had anywhere.
Period.
AND he sells chips made by Broad Ripple Chip Co!
I’ll definately visit this establishment for every bbq craving I get.

This has become on my favorite place at City Market! I work in downtown and usually try to avoid going to the city market due to budgeting! But, I will make an exception every once in a while to eat at Gomez BBQ! I honestly love the mix of savory and sweet.
Definitely different flavors and I love them all! I hang out upstairs in the evening to get some work done and I LOVE their Spanish Cheese. It’s my new favorite snack. I strongly recommend it. They’re staff are super cool people. I am looking forward to trying their arepas when they’re back on the menu! Check it out! Also, follow them on IG since their menu changes every day!

I smoke a lot of pork and am usually unimpressed with the dry and bland pulled pork served by local bbq joints. These guys have it dialed in! Pair it with tots and local soda, and you’ve got a lunch that can’t be beat

Way too much fat. More fat than meat. Beans and rice is spicy but good no seasoning on the macaroni. On the lid of the container is fat.
