I went to Maki tonight with my husband and twin 2 year old girls. I wasn’t expecting to be able to have a nice dinner due to having the girls with us, but they ended up doing well. The service was excellent, we received our appetizer quickly and the girls’ food came first, which helped a lot. The servers were so nice to the girls and no one seemed to mind when they were playing around a bit. The girls had the orange chicken app. (which was excellent), then chicken nuggets and fries from the kids menu – they loved it. My husband and 1 shared 3 sushi rolls: Mexican, Peachy, and Joe’s Special. The sushi was so delicious – best I’ve had in Park Ridge. Our experience was EXCELLENT and we will certainly go back!

Bottom line: Fantastic food, decent drinks, pokey service. If you have the time, though, and don’t mind a wait, it’s very well worth a visit.
The good: quality of food is excellent. Though the sushi bar is prominently featured in the middle of the dining room and the establishment itself is named after a sushi roll, there’s more to be had than just Japanese-style seafood. Maki has served me some of the best Thai green curry I’ve ever tasted (and when I said VERY SPICY, they listened!) and they have plenty of vegetarian options for those who have to or prefer to avoid meat. The sushi is always fresh and flavorful, the hot sake is a great choice on a winter night, and dinner guests are provided with hot towels at the start of their visit to put a little extra polish on the experience.
The bad: Service is slow. I mean really slow. “10-15 minute wait for an appetizer” slow, unless the app is steamed edamame. Even when there’s next to nobody in the restaurant, it always seems that kitchen staff is swamped. Maki is walking distance from home for me and the quality of the food makes up for it, but if you’re in a hurry this is –NOT– the place for you. Bring time and patience in equal measure, because you will need both. Also, cocktails are a bit weak. Flavorful but not for those looking to do any high-octane drinking. Stick to sake and you’ll be happy as a clam (certainly happier than the ones served up over rice!).

Very bad. Extremely overpriced as well. I can get the exact same quality of sushi form jewel or Mariano’s just for $2.00 did not need to spend $50 dollars on 4 sushi that was stuffed onto one plate. They mixed the vegetarian with the regular and it was very small and Tasteless

We’ve been frequenting Maki Sushi for years. The quantity and quality are fair prices for sushi, and their custom sushi menu has many delicious options. With the Groupon, we splurged on their more expensive sushi – and we were pleasantly surprised. All very good – now we have too many favorites to choose from.

This place was amazing!! We got there when they opened. Ordered appetizers. Pomegranate Lemonade was so good! Try the bbq pork ramen. Very flavorful pork broth was perfect! Served in beautiful bowls. Peachy sushi was omg!! Must try! My first time here, I’ll be back!! Hope my next experience is even better than first which was 2 thumbs up!! friendly staff as well.

Enjoy the sushi. Very fresh. The selection of rolls is incomparable. Ask about the many cold sakes. They pair very well with the sushi. If you want something spicy have a delicious Thai curry.

The food is quite decent, the selection is ecclectic so do not expect your favourites here but be prepared to make some new ones. The rolls have Wasabi in them already, to be aware of this, but are otherwise really nice. Points off, unfortunately, for the Ramen as it’s not well presented and unfortunately has a severely limited number of toppings and the broth is a bit thin. I would suggest either cutting the item or working on improving it.

Went there with another couple, one round of drinks, two appetizer and couple of sushi rolls our bill came out to be about $200 (including tip). That’s a lot of money for some fish and rice… with that being said, sushi is pretty good. Place doesn’t require reservations (like one down the street that is alway empty when I walk by on my way to Maki Sushi & Noodle. During Saturday dinner rush (around 7PM) it was not as busy as you would think it should be – maybe 5-7 people other than the 4 of us. Beer was not cold by any means and the saki bomb didn’t come with beer – we had to use our own beer for it to work (bartender provided glasses). That was the first time I run into that one. Anyway, place is ok but price, average taste of food, somewhat limited bar capabilities, etc make me not want to come back anytime soon.

The tuna, octopus & rolled sushi was fresh & well prepared. The sukiyaki was more of a soup than the traditional style, but very nice none the less. Service was a bit slow, but not irksome.
