A summary of the process: We put an inquiry in on the PHG website and were able to set up a call in which Miranda set out some initial ideas. She took creative license in the best way and sent over an absolutely gorgeous menu.
Before booking we wanted to order from PHG ourselves to try the food, but we kept getting delayed due to complications with a loss in the family. Miranda eventually set up a complimentary tasting for us and the food was AMAZING, so we happily sent our deposit her way.
Miranda set up another call about a month prior to our wedding and covered the logistics of the day. She wrote up a highly detailed catering run-of-show. She suggested (and then executed) a gorgeous brown-paper tablescape that was basically decor in its own right. She worked with us to add on portions to feed our vendors and to add on desserts a month or two before the event. It is hard to believe that this was PHG’s first wedding, because Miranda was such a detail-oriented and experienced professional that it felt like she’d done this dozens of times.
PHG provided enough food to feed a small army — everyone went home with leftovers, and raving about how delicious it was. Miranda’s varied menu and excellent labeling meant that we had amazing options for the omnivores, the vegetarians, the vegans, and the gluten-free among our guests. People’s jaws dropped when they saw the spread.
Some of our favorites: Sour cherry lamb mini kebabs (mouth-watering, literally), orange & date carrot dip (omg), chicken b’stila manakeesh (still mourning the fact that we don’t have more leftovers of this), spinach fatayer, muhummara. The Arabic coffee tiramisu was our favorite dessert.
We would hire PHG again in a heartbeat. Miranda and her team helped make the day so special & delicious, and worked seamlessly with our catering staff & DOC so we did not have to worry about the food at all. Thank you for feeding our queer Girl Scout wedding guests so well!
I have ordered from her a couple times to get some things to take to a birthday and another get together one time, the dips and stuff are so good and everyone loves them, and when I’ve ordered I’ve also gotten one of her sandwiches or cookies additionally for myself, they’re so good, anything she does with the pomegranate molasses is class act.
The menus change to reflect the seasons which is nice and exciting, it’s also neat that she does events and pop-ups so you can try the amazing food out and about at different locations and times.
I have to say in Philadelphia right now, the most exciting food is coming from people doing their own thing with pop-ups or small kitchen businesses, keeping things pretty accessible and community-minded, PHG is a very exciting addition to this scene and I super recommend trying her great food out whenever you get a chance.
