Reviews
My wife ordered the salmon, with Caesar salad and green beans. Didn’t exactly get a raviing review, but wasn’t too bad. She did, however, enjoy her mango Moscow Mule.
I, unfortunately, did not fare as well. I ordered the NY Strip, cooked rare with grilled asparagus and a wedge salad. Wedge salad was by far the highlight. This place is obviously not a steakhouse, so my expectations for a proper cook are already lowered, but this was still way too close to Medium for what I’d expect. Even worse, was it was bland. Tasted like there was no seasoning on it. Gave a bite to my wife and she agreed. Luckily, I was able to get some of the jalapeño chimmichurri sauce from the Valentine’s Day special to help choke it down. The asparagus was even worse. The 1st batch came out as complete mush. The waitress brought out a new batch, but they mostly came out the same way. The only part that wasn’t, was the woody part that normally is removed. I gave up.
Poor waitress kept apologizing and I felt bad that she needed to. She said she’d try to see what she could do for us, but ended up not being anything. Never had a manager come out to apologize. Later realized that we also got charged for a ranch that was never ordered or brought out.
We wanted dessert, but nothing through our experience so far led us to believe it would be worthwhile, so we went to Lazlo’s afterwards.
The only positives were the wedge salad and the sauce on the salmon that made it “not too bad”. Expensive bill for such a sub par experience.
We came in looking for some good food and drinks to relax leading up to a family wedding this weekend. I wouldn’t say that much of anything with this visit was relaxing. The drinks were a mess. First the wrong beer was brought out to the table, ok, easy fix. Waters that were ordered were forgotten. Ok, it happens. Margarita that was ordered was never brought out. We asked about it, “oh yeah, I forgot to put that it in.” Forget it, we’re already eating. Soda refill forgotten about and left sitting at the bar until we asked about it. None of these are really egregious, but when they all happen in one visit it becomes off-putting. Especially when the establishment isn’t super busy. The food was fine. Nothing amazing other than the Chicken Fried Steak, which holds the same as before. I ordered the seasonal sliders that are listed under the burger category on the menu and all burgers come with a side. The waitress did not ask what side I would like so I assumed I was getting fries, which is what I wanted anyway. When the food arrives I literally had 3 sliders and no side. When I asked about it I was told “those don’t come with a side, but you can order one if you like?” No thanks, the 3 sliders cost the same as a regular burger and fries and I wasn’t in the mood to argue. Seems odd to me. The small amount of employees working seemed to be overwhelmed and understaffed. If I am being honest, this was a pretty disappointing visit all around, I’m not sure I would come back to give it a 3rd try.
Valentine’s day 2025:
This was our first visit to Zipline Tap and Grill. I will be honest, this isn’t exactly what I was expecting. I did not look at a menu or pictures so I didn’t have any preconceived impressions of the place.
Food: The food was VERY delicious with pretty high end meal offerings. I did not look at a menu beforehand but when I attend a tap and grill I expect a little more of a bar/pub style food (and price), but I was not disappointed at all. The cedar plank salmon and chicken fried steak were superb. 10/10 recommend.
Service: I will preface by saying we went on Valentine’s Day and had reservations. We did not have to wait for a table due to the reservation we had and as we were seated we were told we had 1 hr and 20 mins of table time. I understand why they did this, they have to keep table rotations moving so all reservations are fulfilled but I’ve never been given a time limit at a restaurant before. The server did a very good job, I did feel a tad rushed however.
Atmosphere: I am a bit confused on what this place wants to be. The decor, lighting, prices and food scream upscale restaurant. The loud music, multiple TV’s on sports channels and glasses advertising their beer/farm equipment do not scream upscale. I am comfortable in either place but I think they would be best to pick one lane and not drive in both.
Beer: We did not order beer on this visit but we have enjoyed many of their different beer options at other establishments or purchased from a store. They have many options, all of which are superb.
Overall, I would not let anything I disliked/was confused about from keeping me from visiting this establishment again. The excellent food is more than enough to bring me back.
We were looking for something lighter, so we started with the pretnzel sticks and just each has a cup of chicken tortilla soup. OMG on the pretzel sticks. They came with 2 different dipping sauces and they came warm and soft… They didn’t last long. The soup was good and I had to try a different IPA for dessert while she went for the brownie. Neither of us were disappointed. It was a great evening, I highly recommend it.
Side of Mac and cheese was so full of pepper and prime rib was flavorless.
Overall- a major disappointment
