Reviews
Moving to the collards, they’re mushy and sweet…what is this….i read in the reviews that the food is made fresh everyday, but don’t play us with false acclamations because them greens were definitely from last week. There’s no way they got that mushy in a matter of hours if they were made fresh.
Finally, for the pork chops , BEST item on the plate! Literally when you open the box up you can smell how good it is. They were seasoned to the T, nice size, juicy, perfectly fried, and overall delicious. One feat for the team, I guess.
Nevertheless, I’m being generous with the 2 stars but it wasn’t terrible(2 stars for 2 properly cooked porkchops ). I paid $22 for the meal and only got 2 pork chops out of it. It’s disappointing and if I do order again, which I doubt, I will stick to the porkchops until somebody does something about the person cooking the sides. There’s no consistency in the sides so please just find like a new recipe or something.
Please do BETTER
Mac n cheese, greens, rice, cornbread- all delicious
It’s a small spot with good music playing while I waited on my order. Very likely going to order from here again.
Not to be confused with the soul food restaurant originally at this location, Soul Food Cafe located at 1804 Columbia Drive in Decatur, Georgia, offers a mouthwatering selection of old school Southern dining delights.
Homestyle staples such as cube steak, smothered beef patties, fried pork chops, and a unique short rib soup paired with Southern side favorites such as black eyed peas, collard greens, yams and cornbread dressing make this a perfect place to go to quelch any soul food cravings.
Their turkey wings, macaroni and cheese, and string beans are simply delicious, while their crunchy fried chicken wings, cornbread dressing, and sweet potato souffle add variety to the menu.
Don’t forget dessert!! There’s a variety to choose from including lemon pound, red velvet, chocolate, and carrot cakes.
However I couldn’t miss an opportunity to try their delicious old-fashioned banana pudding.
The prices are reasonable considering the generous portions and quality of the food.
Plus, they offer a special discount of $5 off a $20 purchase if you pay with cash.
One thing to note Ms. Stacy is concerned with the health of her community so do not expect an overabundance of salt or sodium containing seasonings in her dishes. In my opinion this is better because you can truly taste the flavor of the food!!
While it’s more of a to-go restaurant with walk-up window ordering, the outdoor seating in front of the restaurant adds a nice touch.
However, in my personal opinion, you will be so satisfied and in the full throes of the ‘itis after eating you would have wished that you were at home.
So take my advice, take your meal to go and find somewhere to relax after enjoying this very filling culinary experience.
I’ll definitely be returning soon for another delicious plate of Ms. Stacy’s soul food!
Meat was seasoned well as well as gravy was hearty. The rice that comes with the steak was completely uncooked. It was all hard and gritted like. The mac was creamy but thick in sauce so the creamy texture was heavy. Soufflé wasn’t that great either. The green beans and turnips were the only thing that was somewhat pleasing.
Let’s not even talk about the Banana Pudding. It’s was absolutely nasty and needs a whole new recipe. The pudding that is the cup is super thick and powdery. It’s a pack of wafers with literally no pudding in the 2 cups I bought.
I hope for a Better experience the next time I decide to stop by.
