Please don’t be scared off by the per person price. It was my birthday and my older brother was picking up the tab.Ha! The overly used expression “Hidden Gem” works perfectly for the Franklin Lounge. It has it’s own private entrance to the right and connected to Sasso’s Coal Fired Pizza, in downtown Torrington, Connecticut. It is the sublime “Speakeasy” of our cherished past and just a short drive away. You enter a warm vestibule and tap a small panel for entry. A host will then escort you into a beautiful intimate dining room, with high tin ceilings, ornate cornice and exquisite raised paned walls. Low lighting and quiet music complete your initial experience. We were welcomed by our waiter/server, Walter. He was a perfect addition to the evening. Walter was attentive, friendly and quick at adapting to my unique sense of humor which added greatly to the overall experience. The drinks were fine and I loved their house Cabernet. The meal was fabulous! The proportions were plentiful leaving enough on the plate for “take-home” my favorite! The shrimp were fresh and large. I had the Steak Frites, that were perfectly seasoned and cooked to order, which was medium rare and a very large supply of crispy fries. My brother’s Salmon dinner came with an enormous Cesar salad and neither saw a take-home container. Dinner ended with a perfect desert from their vast Bourbon menu that completed the evening and you were never rushed at any time. You can also experience the Franklin Lounge atmosphere while enjoying your favorite menu items from Sasso’s Coal Fired Pizza as they are connected inside. Well done!

Our server, Walter, could not have been more gracious and attentive. This place is so great! Dark, classy, with inventive cocktails, glitzy chandeliers, jazzy understated music, and that antipasto salad for $17 was enough to serve 2-3 people. The margherita pizza was really delicious! And we are admittedly snobby about our New Haven pizza barometer. Loved this place! We will be back!

We made a last-minute decision to come here on a whim, and we’re so glad we did! The setting is intimate, and both the drinks and food were phenomenal. We ordered several tapas-style dishes, and every single one was delicious. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town!

I celebrated my birthday at the Franklin Lounge, and I must say everything was outstanding!!! From the moment we walked in, to the drinks the food the service, absolutely incredible! Walter and the staff were extremely accommodating for our event and I cannot wait to come back! I love this place!

The Franklin Lounge gives city vibes and is definitely unique to the area. Walter and the staff are knowledgeable, know the menu forwards and backwards and can make great recommendations. We had a vegetarian in our group and there were plenty of options for her. It is pricey, but everything is so well done and the experience makes it worth it. Bonus-we popped right over to Sasso’s to finish out our night with some music and dancing. The Franklin is a great addition to downtown.

WOW, what an experience! Not a single detail was overlooked in this establishment! The environment, drinks and food were all perfectly executed! We went with a group and was able to try a wide variety of dishes offered on the menu. I’m still thinking about how delicious the espresso crème brûlée and broccolini were! Our server was Walter and the mixologist was Lorraine. Both were extremely knowledgeable and able to provide excellent recommendations. Looking forward to visiting again! What an incredible addition to the area!

We made a reservation at the Franklin Lounge for 4 and we had the best time. It was nice and intimate. The food is outstanding and the drink are delicious. We can not wait to go back.
