This is the best spot we’ve eaten at while on our trip in Ohau. We’ve gone twice, one for dinner and today for lunch.
Friday for dinner time the line was out the door and down the block. Today it was a short line but shortly after we sat down the line started up. Even if there is a line it doesn’t take long to order and get food. They’re really good about cleaning tables and helping you find a seat.
Food is amazing! If you can only go once get the Udon noodles, they offer a number of varieties. After ordering there is an are in line for tempura shrimp, panto sweet potato, and 6-8 other offerings all reasonably priced. You must clear your own table it’s a courtesy for others as it is very busy. Pretty quite because everyone is busy eating. The process is 1) read the menu on the menu boards, order by number at the window, pick your extras like shrimp tempura etc. Pay. Eat amazing food.
We’re definitely going back before we leave tomorrow. Went on last time as today was our last day, I’m going to miss eating here!

I had a fantastic experience here. The udon is clearly freshly made. I had the #1 Nikutama, which was perfectly savory and rich. The broths were delicious and flavorful, providing a great base for the meal. There is a great selection of add-ons and tempura to customize your bowl exactly how you like it. Even though it was busy, the wait wasn’t too long, and we had no trouble finding seats after grabbing our food. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

Wow I REALLY Love this place!! The food is outstanding. There’s a reason the line to eat here goes around the block, but trust me it’s worth the wait. The staff is very friendly & give the place a welcoming & hospital atmosphere, that I love. I really enjoyed the new chicken broth udon with some of their various tempuras. The sausage tempura was very good! Zucchini and potato tempura is wonderful if you want a vegetarian option. If you want a delicious & affordable meal while in Waikiki I definitely recommend!!!

The best udon I’ve had without a doubt.

This popular spot makes its own noodles on site and offers a small menu of both udon soups and rice bowls. They also have a range of tempura available on the side. The shrimp had light batter and were good.

I had the Nikutama udon with sweet beef. Simple with delicious broth that needed no extra seasoning. The chicken teriyaki rice katsu was also very good.

This is a well oiled operation so don’t let the long lines outside deter you. The queue moves fast. You order at the counter, pick up your dishes and find a place to sit. It’s not a place to linger. If you do and it’s busy you will be hurried along.

Although there’s no table service the service both ordering and payment were friendly.

We visited Marugame Udon not so much because I was personally interested, but because it was on my husband’s must-try list. He absolutely loved it, and I have to admit the flavors were very good. I ordered the simplest bowl with just green scallions. The broth had a rich, almost mushroom-like flavor that I enjoyed, though I didn’t focus on finishing all the noodles since I try to limit carbs. On the side, I had a tempura asparagus that was fresh and tasty.

Overall, it’s not really my type of food, so I wouldn’t say it’s a place I’d rush back to on my own—but it was still a good experience, especially for my husband who really enjoyed it. One thing I did notice was that it felt extremely hot inside while we were eating. The air conditioning didn’t seem to be working properly, and with a steaming bowl of soup in front of us, it honestly felt like a sauna.

We went on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30–3:00, and it wasn’t crowded at all. Service was fast, the portions were generous, and the quality was solid. If you love udon, this is definitely worth a visit.

What a vibe! While the line outside was long, this place is so worth the wait… and the staff run a tight ship, so you’re pretty much guaranteed a seat by the time you get through the counter line. Will be dreaming about the curry udon for a long time.

Delicious food, one of the best Ramens I have had by far. Swift service and stomach rumbling atmosphere (even if you aren’t hungry you’ll feel hungry here!) Please make sure you visit Marugame Udon with enough appetite.
We had the Curry Udon, Tantan ramen and Nikutama Udon. In the tempura we had the big chicken Katsu, sweet potato, shrimp, gyoza and spam musubi.
Huge portions, mouthwatering broth and freshly handmade Udon noodles. There is a long queue to secure your bowl but it moves fast. Pick a tray, choose a bowl size, select your broth/toppings, move ahead to a plethora of tempura options! (You are in paradise) Move ahead to cashier and you’ll be directed to available table options by a sweet lady.
There are extra dipping soy sauce, dry chilli dip and sesame options at the cutlery counter.

This viral spot absolutely delivered! We came around 5 on Christmas Day, and the line seemed somewhat long, but it goes by quite quickly. Once you’re inside, your udon is rapidly assembled with the freshest ingredients. It’s a little chaotic inside, but that’s part of the fun. I tried the curry nikutama udon, which had a rich sauce, lots of tender beef, an egg, and chewy, handmade noodles. We also tried the shrimp, squid, and chicken tempura, which all tasted freshly fried and very light with the batter. If you’re willing to wait a bit, I’d recommend trying this place for a delicious meal in Waikiki!

Quite popular, be sure to expect some wait time. Usually there is a line of at least 15-20 people waiting in the evening time. For vegetarians there is only one option for ramen but it’s delicious 10/10 recommend it if you love some spice. They have vegetarian tempura as well but we avoided as they were served right with other options.

Be prepared with your order before reaching counter and the food will be ready soon as you make the payment.

The food was delicious and so was the portion size
The creamy broth was full of flavors.
The vegan / tan tan was good as a vegan option but lacked strong flavor.
Shrimp tempura was really good.
The Crab tempura was strictly ok.

Overall a good visit.
The queue was not that bad. 15-20 mins of wait and it moves fast.
