1st time going and great value for excellent food. Ordered the gyro meal. The fries are made to order and were crispy and hot. No salt on them but you can add to your likely. The gyro is loaded with meat and the traditional topings and nice and hot and juicy meat.
The sitdown area is clean as are the bathrooms. It is a self server pepsi soda machine with a sign of 1 free refill.
The menu is huge with gryos, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, fish, and shrimp meals.

This is your classic dinner. With plenty of handheld favorites. Lots of stuff for the gear heads to look at. If you cannot find something you like, you don’t like sandwiches. They have self serve, but are on the honor system as they don’t want you getting more than one refill.

Simon Sez in Merrillville is a fantastic spot for lunch! The food is fresh, clean, and packed with flavor. I highly recommend the fried shrimp packet and the chicken Philly – both are absolutely delicious! My coworker ordered lunch for us today which consisted of 2 orders of cheese fries and a hot dog/polish. The person who took her order said to give them around 10mins or so. Granted she picked up the order maybe 15minutes later. The fries were not hot and they tasted very stale. I called to let tell them about the fries and asked can I have 1 order of fries cooked fresh again and The Owner comes yelling to the gentleman at the register “we’re not making the over, I know for a fact they were cooked when you called, we’re not making them over and if she wants another fry she’ll have to pay for them”in a very rude way! Now I’ve worked in the restaurant business and I was taught that the customer is always right and for him to be a business owner and not acknowledge the fact that something was wrong with the fries or even ask how’d they taste showed he didn’t care! I felt discriminated against and he didn’t try to resolve the issue as a business owner. Even the worker looked concerned because it was like hey it’s only fries and I know she comes in here often and spends way more money than your losing in replacing 1 fry. I will never go back to Simon Sez. And sir the fries were old!!

Hidden amongst the strip malls and traffic, this place is an excellent reprieve from a busy day. The employees are friendly, the service is excellent and the food choices are delicious. If the weather is good, try the outside tables. The Italian beef sandwiches are some of the best in the area.

Food was fresh and very hot it just lacked flavor and Im sorry that pork taco meat had the consistency of canned dog food, had no seasoning and tasted pretty darn gross.I won’t make the mistake of ordering that ever again. Overall for the price there are much better choices in the immediate area.

My first time here. I am constantly on the prowl for a better gyros, among other dishes. I think I may have found it! First impressions matter and Simon Sez checks that box well. The dining area and kitchen areas were immaculate. Christina and Dale greeted me with a genuine hearty and friendly welcome. I got the gyros plate with fries. Competitively priced and nice portions. The fries were hot, fresh, and golden. The gyros meat was cooked perfectly (not underdone or overdone). The Tzatziki was superb. Good amount of tomatoes, onions and meat to build 2 sandwiches with the 2 provided pitas, with meat to spare. Great experience! Job well done! I’ll be back, Lord willing! Simon Sez, “check it out!”
