The ease of finding parking and handicap accessibility was magnificent. Nobody in my party is handicapped. however, knowing this is an option is wonderful. The atmosphere and cleanliness of both the tables and bathrooms were not first noticeable. However with the grates tables and chair, they are noticeable between the planks.
It was busy the entire time we were here, and they could definitely use more staff. The staff they did have was kind and friendly. Practically the only redeeming factor outside the atmosphere.
The wait for drinks orders was ok. The drinks we received were good. The beer we received wasn’t anything to clamor about, it was decent: 6/10.
I disliked that they brought out our entrees at separate times. When they brought out two of the three out, the server did not mention anything to the third person. We waited 10 minutes before asking our waiter if their order was coming, all while not eating our own in hopes theirs will be out soon.
Our server comes back to tell us that our ticket must have gotten thrown out and he placed another order in for their entree. Another few minutes goes by, and a different server brings out their entree. It looked magnificent and smelled wonderful.
All the while during this time, I only ordered water to drink, and finished it before I finished my food. Not once did they ask me for a refill, I was able to ask for a refill as they came over to see if we needed to go boxes…
It was just not timely at all, the food I received; prime rib sandwich, tasted like onions on bread. The fries tasted like batter and oil. It was just not a good trip in my experience. Especially since we saw such good food online, to only come for this – was a waste of gas in my view. We traveled from the west side of Illinois, nearly a 4 hour trip just for this.
Thank you to our server, Joshua, and the host who sat us, and those in the kitchen. Enjoy the rest of your day. But you won’t see us again.
These fried buffalo wings were delicious, salads were fantastic and the smash burger in a gluten free bun was scrumptious. Now the Cuban has a smidge too much bread for our liking and was a smidge bland, too much bun.
Great service, wonderful bartender and fun sports bar like atmosphere.
After getting skunked yet again my wife and I headed back down the Red Arrow Highway and made our first visit to Ghost Isle Brewery. First off there’s plenty of parking. Second there’s an outdoor area that would be great to sit at when it’s warmer. The brewery is very spacious with a big bar and plenty of tables. We were seated and ordered onion rings and boneless chicken wings and a tasting flight of four 5 Oz beers. We had two IPAs, a Stout, and a Porter. We ordered two pints each, both of us having one pint with no duplicates. They were good and we’re looking forward to try new beers when we come up next time.
The appetizers were very good and plentiful. We went for an order of kettle chips and dip and enjoyed those as well. Next time we’ll try dinner.
Give it a try, you’ll like it.
