Grew up in Vinton, visit this place every time I’m back. The food is excellent. The drinks are very good. Queso fundido is very good. Last trip we had chicken enchiladas with both green and red sauce, chimichangas, taco salads. Recommend all three. Chips are homemade and are also very good.

Clean modern restaurant with large menu. The menu had so many items and things that I don’t always see. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable about menu items. They were able to easily modify for a food allergy. The vegetarian and vegan items had a lot of variety.

I was on the road working and my family was coming out to visit with me in Vinton, IA. I mentioned that there was a upscale looking Mexican restaurant across the street from one of my work sites so we decided to meet there for dinner. It was our first time coming here, and i, having a sensitive stomach call ahead, to tell them what time we would be there, and asked if they had a salsa without onions or garlic. They said that their house salsa, had onions and garlic in it, but they would be willing to make me a salsa fresh to my liking most places wouldn’t have gone out of their way to do that and I truly appreciate I’m willing to do so. Both the host, and our server Mathew, were very gentlemanly, going out of their way to make my family and I comfortable, even though we had arrived so late, and so close to closing time. The food was absolutely excellent, very professionally made, large portions, not messy, not greasy, and very well prepared. The atmosphere was comfortable and everyone seemed enthusiastic, and happy, working there. You could truly feel their positive energy. I would truly recommend Tequilero Mexican restaurant to anyone living in the area or simply passing through for a meal.

Ordered some chips and bean dip for my grandma. My mom was on the phone and had an entire conversation just about the chips trying to get the order right. The lady gave her a total of $9.10. So I stand by the door and wait for someone to acknowledge me so I can get the order. And I kept waiting. It was not busy. Finally I got their attention when they took a pause in their conversation with each other and I said I had a pick up order, they said the other girl was getting my order. She came out and asked if i wanted chips…yes, that’s literally what the order was. So we went up to the checkout and she said it was $11.77, I double checked cause that’s not the price my mom was given over the phone and she said that was without the chips. Again, that’s what the order was, chips and dip. Fine whatever. I gave her a $20 and she goes in the back for change, and again I have to wait for awhile. She comes back and hands me the $8 cash and walks away. I said “oh wait, what about the coin change?” She said “oh, we keep that”. I was shocked. I said “excuse me? You keep it?”
She said “yes, if it’s under .50 we keep it, if it’s over .50, you get a dollar back.”
I replied and said “you need to tell people that, that’s not ok. This isn’t my order, and it’s not my money, I’m only picking up.” She just shrugged her shoulders and said “its just what they do”. I shook my head and when I started walking out they called me back and said theyd find me some change. The main mexican lady got grumpy with me and got out a little bag thing and started looking for change but the gal that got the order for me gave me a dollar. So I put it in my grandpas wallet with his other change and left. Between the grumpy people who ignore you, or the insane price of the food, or the quality of the food (greasy chips and watery bean dip you have to eat with a spoon) I don’t see this place lasting long. I rarely leave reviews, but THIS was ridiculous. Keeping OUR money just so they don’t have to make change, not ok.

This place is amazing Great food and great service. The new look is awesome the food here has so much flavor and lots of food. The staff is very friendly and fast. They have a nice wide variety of drinks and food. Can’t wait to go back

Way beyond expectations! We stopped in at random – just passing through – and we’re so very glad we did. Apart from our own cooking, this was the best meal we’ve had in a long time. They have a good selection of vegan & vegetarian options … and not just your usual leave-out-the-meat things. These were genuine creations, vegan from the ground up, and so delicious. We live a half hour away, and we will be back!

Yesterday I went with a fried for dinner last night. It was our first time trying Tequilero. The food was excellent, fresh, hot and authentic. I LOVED how the chips weren’t store bought chips. I had the combination fajitas, and it was amazing! The margaritas were very, very, VERY strong, fresh, and delicious! We loved it on the rocks! Our waitress was very attentive, excellent service, fast delivery for our food, we were able to get a seat in the outdoor patio. We absolutely loved it! We can’t wait to come back for a margarita night! This is the best authentic Mexican restaurant in Vinton!

Excelente! The best Mexican restaurant in the area hands down! We came from cedar rapids just to try it out and will make this one of new favorites. Great food, amazing friendly service, and love the atmosphere! The burrito grande and chimicanga were to die for!!

what an absolute disaster. called HOURS ahead to place an order for pickup for the evening. 20 tacos and 2 bags of chips(the taco Tuesday special) got there at the scheduled time and the order was not ready. they proceeded to say they ran out of beef so we’re going to substitute chicken(this was fine). proceeded to wait 35min after our scheduled time. one gentleman offered a free bag of chips to apologize. after receiving our order loaded into paper bags walked outside and the bags ripped!!!! the entire bottom of the bags were covered in oil so ripped. immediately reached out and said something and was told “it left the building premises there is nothing we can do, we’re sorry” this was our 1st and last time coming here.

3rd time here never disappoints. The menu is huge with some interesting options. Tonight I tried spaghetti poblano with shrimp. Delicious our server was Max and he was so friendly. Thanx for your service Max!
