Restaurant Review: Ford’s Oyster House and Cajun Kitchen
Reviews
We went back a second time and my wife and daughter both ordered the small shrimp and grits ($12). I got the small jambalaya ($12). When the food arrived at the table the portion size must have been intended for a 10 year old child. The shrimp and grits had four tiny shrimp and a small spoonful of grits. Both of them weigh less than a 105 pounds, and it was not nearly enough food. They had to order another entree. The jambalaya portion was also small considering it cost $12.
Taste good, but way to expensive for a tiny portion.
The front and back dining areas were somewhat crowded but our server was prompt with our drinks and in taking our order.
For an appetizer we had the sampler(fried crawfish tails/fried oysters/seasoned peel n eat shrimps)…perfect choice!!
For a main we decided to split a shrimp po’boy and it was excellent as well, the bread and remoulade sauce were legit.
Looking forward to returning to Ford’s on our next weekend getaway to #greenvillesc
My wife and I wanted to try this place heard they had Po’boys and great cajun cuisine. I ordered a Oyster Po’boy and my wife ordered Salmon. That was at 5:54 pm, and at 6:30 p.m. We still had not gotten our food. The restaurant was not that busy, we were the 6th customers who came through the door at 5:45 p.m. (the restaurant did not receive anymore customers until 6:50 p.m.) at 6:35 pm my wife and I asked our waitress; who only showed up at our table 3 times: once to take our drink order, once to take our meal selection, and once to see what my wife wanted. SHE DID NOT REFILL OUR DRINKS PERIOD! My wife asked, if she (the waitress) “could check on our food to see if it was ready?” and Our waitress never came back. The host at the door a small, soft-spoken, petite, caucasian, brunette lady refilled our drinks. While our waitress, who was blonde, semi-slim, caucasian, and goofing off (she looked to be in her 30’s) went and had a good time in the kitchen. Our waitress, eventually brought food to the elderly black couple, who had been seated shortly before us at 5:40 pm and they finally got their food at 6:40 pm. Our waitress then got into a discussion with a server near our table and she seemed confused about which table she was responsible for. We heard her tell the gentleman server “Do you have table six? because I don’t even know whose order this?” He responded, “No, you have table six don’t you? I don’t think I do?” Needless, to say they walked off back into the kitchen! THIS WAITRESS WAS IN HER THIRTIES!! She wasn’t in high school, but she sure could have fooled me!
While we waited, there was a couple who aksed to wait on the bench under the American flag by the brunette hostess. They waited under the framed American flag at 6 pm and still went unseated at 6:30 pm., This place was not busy until 7:05 pm, I watched them constantly go unnoticed and were completely ignored. They left at 6:40 pm. I don’t blame them.
Eventually, My wife and I left at 7:15 pm, without food, refunds, etc. This place needs a change in management or staff. no accountability, period!!
I’ve worked in the restaurant business for two years and I can tell you that place, needs to get their act together. Carolina Ale House and Smoke on the water are way better and know how to treat their customers. I’ll say this I counted at least 4 times, that poor hostess had to say “I apologize or I’m sorry!” give that girl a raise for becoming a Pro at apologizing.
