We just love this place, and will often just end up on a drive out there! We go for the Humboldt squid and the carrot cake! All the food is delicious, so you might be full and not have room for dessert but just take my advice and get a carrot cake to go!

Mixed Feelings About Genoa Bay Café: A Perfect Setting, But the Food Missed the Mark

We recently visited Genoa Bay Café and found ourselves in one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations imaginable. Nestled right on the water in Genoa Bay, we were seated on the outdoor deck overlooking the marina, surrounded by treed mountains and basking in sunshine. The setting truly is spectacular. The kind of place you could sit for hours, soaking in the views and enjoying the atmosphere.

The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, offering attentive and friendly service throughout our visit. The energy on the deck was lively and inviting, almost like being in a cozy lounge, with neighboring tables engaging in relaxed conversation that added to the experience.

Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the surroundings.

I opted for the Bird’s Eye Cove Highland Beef Burger. While the bacon jam added a nice touch, the burger itself was just okay, nothing I couldn’t get at a dozen other places. It was good, not great, and didn’t feel like it matched the creativity or uniqueness the location deserves.

My wife had the Falafel Plate, which sounded promising on the menu. While each component was well prepared: beet hummus, sesame ginger salad, mango salsa, and pickled vegetables. Her takeaway was that the flavors didn’t really complement each other. It felt like a collection of good ingredients that didn’t quite come together as a dish.

Our search continues since my favourite restaurant closed permanently and Genoa Bay cafe left us wanting more.

Cosy atmosphere. Delicious food. Friendly staff. Funky old building. Blankets to help you stay cosy. Never feel rushed. Nice harbour view. Definitely worth the drive.

I love coming here. It’s such a beautiful place, with great service and delightful food. The view is fantastic overlooking the docks & house boats.
I highly recommend eating here. There is a little something for everyone on the menu, but I have to say that the burger that I ate was one of the best burgers that I’ve ever had.

We ordered two bowls of seafood chowder and Parmesan fries.
The seafood chowder smelled and tasted burnt/smoky. Not sure if that’s their style but it wasn’t good.
The fries were mid.
Good location overlooking the bay and the mountains and the service was okay.
Went on a Sunday evening around 5:30 and it wasn’t too busy at that time.

The restaurant was closed when we went so i didn’t get to review. The bay is very well kept and has showers and a nice restroom. Very pretty views.

Tucked away down a winding, forested road off the highway, this hidden gem is well worth the drive for its stunning bay views and delicious food. Located at the entrance to the harbor, this charming little restaurant offers a warm, friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, and a menu that doesn’t disappoint.

If you’re looking to venture off the beaten path, this spot is definitely worth a visit!

Exactly why we make the trek to get there. The service is outstanding. The building doesn’t change from year to year so we have wonderful memories of having a meal by the seaside on all the different seasons. The portions are just the right size and it really has that Italian ambience to it.

We had a great lunch here, Gord was friendly and fast with all aspects of the service. The food was great, I had a 1/2 rack of tender ribs and my wife the burger special, it must have been very good because she never offered me a single bite!

An amazing little gem in the marina. The staff are lovely and warm. They feel like they are invested in the diners and the business which is nice. The menu is fantastic and the food is above expectations. The short rib is my personal fave. Wish it stayed open later, but that’s just me!
