The menu does change daily I believe, which for a restaurant preparing fresh local and “small batch” should have a revolving menu based on ingredients available and what’s seasonal.
At $4 per taco, it’s not expensive, but not cheap. We’re used to paying more for vegetables than meat everywhere anyways! I found the tacos on the salty side but still finished my meal. The taco filling portions were generous and the tortilla was delicious—-you can tell they’re handmade and fresh. Considering how juicy they are, maybe double up on the tortilla? Mine instantly fell apart and I ate it with a fork. Normally I hate double tortillas and end up discarding one layer, but here is where it would genuinely help. Also can use the additional tortilla to meter out the filling & guisado ratio.
The dining area is small but there was no one else inside while we ate.
Street parking.
Both the corn tortillas and flour tortillas were so well made (freshly cooked) and the flavors and textures were just !!
The final touches with pickled onion, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds were also perfection.
Honestly the best quality tacos I’ve had after searching for good tacos in San Diego for a year. Finally we found legit guisado tacos!!!
(Vegetarian and vegan options available. The vegetarian papas taco was soooo good!!! So much flavors!!)
Maybe it’s a placebo thing about being a “farm to table” restaurant but I actually felt really good after the meal where when I eat at most Mexican restaurants I’d feel super bloated or need a nap.
I love how their menu changes everyday but from what the workers told me there are a few that stick around pretty often. I would HIGHLY recommend the turkey mole taco/ burrito or the Jalisco steak taco/burrito. Both kinds of tortillas are made fresh and were so soft. Melted in my mouth. Will definitely come back to try more!
Get one of their juices too! So good.
Megan was so warm and inviting. It was nice to meet another family with young children. Our kids loved the brown butter sea salt, chocolate chip cookies…. But they also crushed two burritos. They are six and three and pretty darn picky.
But they know good food.
It was really awesome meeting a gentleman in there so excited that it was my first time there. And he said “you’ll be back and I’ll probably see you“.
I love knowing that there was a lot of heritage in the cooking. I did not get to meet Juan formally but I’ll be back 😉
My wife and I are really excited to bring my parents here. We love this find. And we will be back again and again.
As a business owner in this amazing town, we are always so grateful to meet other amazing businesses, especially startups.
Especially those that make amazing art with food. We ordered seven different burritos. We got beans and rice and we wish we got so much more although we could not even come close to finishing.
Our kids ate for longer than we did, which was awesome. It’s typically a good sign because they are very distinct about taste, but also quality and health.
Megan and staff were amazing. And even the patrons were so happy to be there. And so happy for me that it was my first time.
Welcome to the community guys! To all of your success. You have customers for life with our family and our business.
I had the taco (yes, plural—you’ll want more than one) with a slow-cooked guisado filling that made the tortilla sing. The flavors were deep but not heavy, vibrant but familiar. You’ll catch yourself closing your eyes and nodding slowly because you just know: this is how tacos should be.
And beyond the food? The place feels like it’s powered by passion — from the chef’s background in Baja California to the local farming ethos. It’s not made for hype, it’s made for taste. The service was warm, unhurried, and sincere; the ambiance relaxed but elevated.
If you’re in Escondido (or willing to make the drive from San Diego) and you want a taco experience that will linger in your memory, this is it. Go hungry. Leave thrilled. I can’t wait to go back, and you should too.
