We went last Saturday with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday, and it was absolutely fantastic. It had been a long time since I felt so good at a restaurant.

The reservation was very easy to make through their website. When we arrived, we started the evening at the bar with some delicious cocktails prepared with a spectacular show, along with an excellent selection of cocktails and wines.

The place itself is luxurious, beautiful, and with a unique atmosphere. Tim, took great care of us throughout the night, giving recommendations and making sure everything was perfect. Thanks to him and the entire Bisou Bar team, the celebration was unforgettable, and the birthday guest felt truly special.

The food was phenomenal: we shared some meats, delicious starters, and ended with dessert and a birthday song. Everything was flawless, from the service to the kitchen.

Overall, our experience couldn’t have been better. Huge thanks to the whole Bisou Bar team for making that night so special. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Great place for an express lunch menu if you have only got an hour. Steak was really nice and so was crudo and jamon. Desserts were typical crème brulee and crepe caramel – both kind of nice I guess. Definitely worth for lunch.

My experience was awful . I am a huge fan of food. After being travelling for the last 15 years and tasting the best food in the world , paying very expensive and very cheap . I can say this restaurant is a medium price but quality is the lowest that I got in a long time .
Door was open while I was having lunch with my friend and I had to wear the coat, curtains were half open , showing very low class and making a very poor atmosphere and food…Really low quality.

I do not recommend this place

I’ve been to this restaurant three times now. I’ve had a drink with a friend once and two dinners there. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service provided by Tim. He’s a great guy who’s always happy to recommend dishes. I especially love the butter and wine list here. The wines are excellent, and the restaurant has a cozy and relaxed atmosphere that’s not too over-the-top. It’s a great place to unwind and savour a delicious meal. The sea beam carpaccio was absolutely delicious, and the steak was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The Steak Tuesday is very good value.
We did order sides and were disappointed by the “duck fat potatoes” – first time these have not been crisp and fried in duck fat. Steamed and tossed in duck fat is not the same thing. Will never order that again.
Food was slow considering we were 2nd couple for afternoon service.

celebrated my birthday at bistrot bisou and enjoyed it! however, food was not that great.. i think the only thing i’d rate is the steak tartare and the dessert we got at the end of the meal – everything else was overcooked, cold and the confit duck just tasted like soap.

❣️steak tartare $27
❣️steak frites $45
❣️confit duck leg $46
❣️apple tarte tatin $18

overall experience was nice and i have to add the service was amazing but would not be coming back again

Bistrot Bisou has a fantastic atmosphere — warm, lively, and genuinely a great place to spend an evening. Service was also excellent: attentive, friendly, and well paced.

That said, with the prices they’re charging, I expected a higher quality steak. The cooking was spot on, but the beef itself just didn’t match the standard I’d hoped for.

The duck breast was the standout at our table — beautifully cooked, well seasoned, and easily the best dish we had. Unfortunately, the chicken was a real letdown, especially compared to everything else.

On the bright side, they make a very good martini, which definitely helped end the night on a high note.

I came yesterday for a birthday dinner. The steaks, the fish, the frites, the beans, the asparagus, and the cauliflower had zero salt. Not little salt, ZERO salt. I cannot help but feel this was intentional; as they have a clean, orderly, quiet kitchen and it is a bistro. I genuinely believe we were profiled as unwanted customers, and salt was intentionally removed from our menu. Most likely unaccommadating to perceived lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and the cultural differences that come with it. I will not be coming again, which I assume is what they want. This is my first negative review of a restaurant; the result of feeling very disappointed and disrespected. If this is the norm then disregard and expect no salt at all on anything.

Came here for dinner as a celebration for a birthday. Had high hopes for the food since the atmosphere of the restaurant was really good. In the end thought I felt that the food was a slight let down. While being pretty tasty, nothing really blew my mind. Considering the price, I have had better steak elsewhere.

Overall, would recommend to come here if you are after the decor and vibe mainly. The food was also certainly good but a bit too pricey I think.

What an incredible French feast we had. Everything was incredible, especially the steak frites and barramundi. The aesthetics of the restaurant are some of the prettiest you’ll find in Melbourne. Can’t wait to go again. Oh and if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Melbourne, Bistrot Bisou is at the bottom of Hotel Indigo on Flinders Lane, it’s a beautiful hotel.
