My husband and I enjoyed lunch at Reigning Cardinals with a gift certificate they’d provided in a raffle basket. Nice contribution! You enter into the bar with the dining room on the left. There’s also outdoor seating on picnic tables. It is a non-smoking venue with real wood throughout – very cozy. We had corn nuggets, crab bisque, stuffed cabbage soup (special of the day), and the fish basket. Corn nuggets were plentiful and delicious – 12-15 1-3-bitesized pieces with a crunchy exterior and soft interior. The crab bisque is made from surimi (imitation crab) with just as much crabmeat as broth. I am not a surimi fan, and should have asked what kind of crab, but that being said, it was tasty. The fish basket consisted of 2 very generous portions of battered haddock and a mountain of shoestring potatoes. For me, the stuffed cabbage soup was the highlight of the meal – it was chunks of stuffed cabbage in a tomato broth and a full meal in itself. Cassie is the soupmaker, bartender, and waitress par excellence. It was a cold day and I wanted a caffeine-free hot drink – she supplied a hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick. Good food in a homey atmosphere – we’ll return.

We were there on Sunday Oct 12. Dakota was our waitress, cook , and bartender. Yes she was handling everything by herself. She had 4 full tables and a full bar. The food came out hot and quickly and was great. She was wonderful and we will be back again.
