The food and service were both great. Everything was delicious and a nice subtle twist. Their Wagyu tartare was on point with a unique Latin American twist (subtle). Their Caesar salad was excellent (had the anchovies, homemade nutty dressing, and kale as well as the normal lettuce. The crab tostada was top notch; light refreshing taste and fresh. We also had the picanha and Bavette steaks, fries, duck-fat refried beans.
The bathrooms need a little bit of better cleaning though…
The music was slightly too loud.

I highly recommend Trino Steakhouse!

Ask for Danny. He is a great waiter that’s passionate about the food and experience, and he offers great wine pairing recommendations.

They started us off with a little bubbly (tasting size) for my partner’s birthday. We then ordered drinks & our full meal. Dishes arrive as they’re ready.

What we had:
– Shrimp & Grits
– Pulpo a la gallego
– Arctic Char (Fish)
– Smash Potatoes
– Trumpet Mushrooms (least fave)
– Red Wine & a cocktail

The flavors melded together nicely across each dish. So delicious

An absolutely spectacular experience at Trino! We loved the intimate vibe and the ambiance was perfect for our group. The food was outstanding from start to finish—we ordered the tostada, empanadas, and the Wagyu tartare to start, and everything was delicious. For the main event, I had the steak special, and I can honestly say it was the best steak I’ve had, maybe ever. All of our steaks were cooked perfectly. You also have to try the duck fat beans! Huge kudos to Chef Stephen Sandoval and the team for such a memorable meal. Highly recommend!

Trino Steakhouse is an new nice addition to the West Loop dining scene. We started with the Cangrejo Tostada and Shrimp & Grits—both packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The Bucatini Polanco was rich and perfectly cooked, while the Skirt steak with Huitlacoche Bordelaise sauce and Trumpet Mushrooms was the star of the night—tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. To finish, the tres leches tiramisu was the perfect dessert: light, creamy, and indulgent. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, and the service was attentive from start to finish. Trino is a good spot to visit in the West Loop for anyone looking for a fresh take on a steakhouse experience.

We got there 5 mins after the cutoff of our reservations due to the weather and traffic so had to wait another 15 mins to get seated. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, however slightly chilly temperature wise. Out waitress didnt come to the table for about 10 mins so someone else was “helping” to take our drink order. We opted for the restaurant week menu and got the lamb empanada, crab tostata, picanha steak and the chocolate cake. The Tostada didnt have any crab or the ingredients listed. Rather it was avocado, jalapeños and radishes as the garnish. The lamb empanada, phenomenal. The steak, for a steakhouse, the cuts should be better. Even as medium rare, I had to leave out 1/4 of the entree because it was chewy and undigestable. The kitchen staff was apparently behind so to compensate, they had brought us bread rolls with butter to fill in between our dishes which was concerning. You’d think if you know you are booked with reservations, you’d have the plates ready as expected and the steaks picked out accordingly. The bathroom is downstairs which by the way, is FREEZING. Turn on the heat guys!!! I’d say it was nice trying out a new restaurant but would I go here again? No.

Trino is now one of my new favorite restaurants! The food was impeccable, the drinks from there and Laberinto (their super cool speakeasy) were amazing, but most importantly the servers, bartenders, staff and everyone we interacted with there were truly the best! So nice, caring and went above and beyond for us. Will definitely be going back soon.

The food and service here is absolutely stellar!!
I came here to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed by any means at all. The entire spectrum from the starters like the fresh bright and slightly spicy crab tostada to the rich beefy tartare with house made chips or their entrees like the crispy pork milanesa and juicy dry aged steak really blew my mind. We finished with some of the Tres Leches Tiramisu for dessert and their team surprised me with a birthday scool of ice cream with this Bay Leaf Carmel and homemade shortbread cookie which were both complex and not too sweet or overpoweringly sugary. Id like to really emphasize their staff was absolutely wonderful, accommodating and attentive but not interruptive nor did it feel like we were being rushed in order to turn tables like some other restaurants, our food was spaced out at a pace that allowed us to savor everything we ordered which I really enjoyed as well! They were even able to make one of their seasonal cocktails into a non alcoholic version which was really kind and accommodating. This is legitimately my favorite restaurant I’ve ever been to and I can’t wait for the opportunity to come back

Wow!! What an amazing, under-the-radar place. I came here with work colleagues for drinks and dinner. We were seated in the back dining room, which had a great warm ambiance and quiet atmosphere. Trino is a fusion restaurant, taking nods from cuisine in Mexico and Argentina, combining it with steakhouse fare. The apps and small plates were to die for, each with unique flavors and texture. I’d highly recommend the Ostiones, which has amazing notes of saffron, the Cangrejo Tostada, and any of the potatoes. You won’t be disappointed with any of it. The steaks were also great- make sure to try the sauces. They were remanicent of an Argentinean steakhouse. And then to close out, order the chocolate cake. It was THE BEST chocolate cake I’ve ever had. Everyone at the table felt that way. I will definitely be coming back with friends.

Absolutely phenomenal experience. I went on a Thursday evening and had the best time. The chef has put so much love into his food, he was touching tables and answering questions. Our server was also attentive and easy to talk to. Honestly… there is nothing like it in the city. I will dream about the lamb empanadas and the duck fat refried beans until I am back. It’s a must go.

We stopped by without a reservation during a short trip to Chicago, and everything was wonderful. The welcoming vibe, the atmosphere that was lively yet elegant and friendly, and the dishes with a hint of Latin American influence made the experience feel different from typical American restaurants. Every plate was flavourful, creative, and perfectly balanced.

And it’s always a joy to be served by someone who clearly loves and excels at what they do—Danny was exactly that. He was attentive and made our dinner experience flawless. I’d definitely come back the next time I’m in Chicago.
