Came here to celebrate weekend and it’s definitely a “treat yourself” kind of Korean restaurant. The menu has both classic Korean dishes and some harder-to-find options in the Bay Area, like soy-marinated raw crab and specialty rice sets.

The Pearl Barley Rice Set was very filling and great value. Comes with barley rice, 8 kinds of veggies, kimchi tofu stew, and a choice of protein—we picked the bulgogi, which was savory and perfect with rice.
The Soy-Marinated Raw Crab Set really stood out. You get a whole crab and a bowl of rice with fish roe and kimchi. The staff shows you how to mix everything together, and the crab meat and roe are rich, sweet, and super satisfying.
We also tried the Gal Nak hot pot with beef ribs and a whole octopus. Lots of tofu, veggies, rice cakes, and udon—flavor gets better as it cooks, and the noodles at the end were a highlight.
The Beef Bibimbap came out sizzling hot with a nice crispy rice layer at the bottom. Well-balanced toppings and generous beef.

Overall, Master Oh feels very authentic, with solid portions and consistently fresh ingredients. Great for group meals or when you want a memorable Korean dining experience. Plus, it’s right next to a Korean market, which is a fun bonus after eating.

We ordered a wide range of dishes and every one was impressive. The Spicy Assorted Seafood Soup was rich and deeply flavorful with generous seafood. The Soy-Marinated Crab with Roe Rice was fresh, well-balanced, and incredibly satisfying. The Barley Rice Set came with grilled meat/fish, soup, and banchan — hearty and comforting. We also loved the Clam Soup Noodles, Hot Stone Bibimbap, and the Seolleongtang, which had a clean, nourishing broth.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for elevated Korean food done right.

Two years ago, I tried the grilled beef intestines here and absolutely loved them. After moving, I hadn’t been back—until last week, when a Korean friend recommended their soy sauce marinated crab. I also heard their Korean soups and meat stews are very authentic, so I try it today.

I highly recommend the soy source marinated crab! With raw seafood, freshness is key, and this definitely didn’t disappoint. I also really enjoyed their fish roe soup—it’s super fresh and sweet, and my husband and I finished the entire bowl together. The pork stew is also delicious, with generous portions that pleasantly surprised me. Another standout was the spicy rice cake—the sauce is perfectly balanced and tastes very different from other places.

A nice bonus: they offer a 15% discount from Monday to Thursday—too bad today was Friday!

Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. They have a wide variety of dishes, and the raw marinated options are unique—you won’t find them elsewhere. Ingredients are fresh, service is good, and prices are moderate. In terms of taste and quality, I’d give it a 9/10. This is definitely a place I’ll return to.

Finally made it to Master Oh and it did not disappoint! We ordered a spread of classics: the Pork Backbone Stew (Gamjatang) was incredibly flavorful with meat that falls right off the bone. The Braised Short Ribs (Galbi Jjim) were a highlight—perfectly tender and savory with those big chunks of radish. Don’t skip the Seafood Pancake; it’s huge and has the perfect crunch. The banchan selection was also super fresh. 5 stars for authentic Korean comfort food in SJ!

On a calm winter evening, I was looking for some delicious Korean food to fuel me for a late night volleyball session. However, this restaurant only slightly hit the mark. We ordered the soy marinated raw crab and the perilla seed soup noodles. The crab was honestly really disappointing given the price tag. For $45 you literally only get a single crab, which if it was really good I would be fine with, but it was just fine. The crab was really fishy and the portion was small. Next the perilla seed soup noodle was solid, but it was kinda bland. It had very minimal perilla flavor at all but at least it was warm and comforting. The banchan was pretty solid, but definitely nothing to be raving about. I do really like the variety of banchan though as they give so many dishes. Overall, I would give this place another chance, but the crab was really disappointing.

Great variety of more special Korean dishes.

We got the marinated crab as part of a combo for a smaller portion and cheaper price just to try. It came with barley rice and kimchi stew. Kimchi stew was very fresh and cabbage sweet instead of sour and salty like jiggae resturants can be.

I really liked the clam noodle soup, very light and sweet, as well as the bossam. Succulent pork belly with pickled veggies and radishes.
Solid banchan.

To me, I didn’t appreciate the pork backbone soup. I think I prefer Chinese flavors because it didn’t seem much special especially for the price.

Waitstaff were all nice and we didn’t have a wait.

Finally found REAL soy-marinated raw crab in the Bay Area — the kind that’s literally bursting with roe! We’ve been seeing it all over social media for the longest time, and my eldest has been begging to fly to LA just for this. So happy we can finally enjoy it right here in the Bay

Korean Soy-Marinated Raw Crab (간장게장)
The roe was SO full it was practically overflowing when we opened the shell. That first moment honestly made us all go “WOW.”
The soy marinade was perfectly balanced — savory with just the right touch of sweetness, zero fishiness. The crab meat was incredibly delicate and silky. Mix it with a spoonful of white rice and it’s pure heaven.
And the roe… unbelievably rich and creamy, almost like uni-level umami. Every bite felt luxurious.

Fish Roe Spicy Kimchi Soup
This pot was next level. It arrived bubbling red and vibrant, loaded with fish roe that popped in your mouth with every bite.
The broth had a bold kick but wasn’t harsh on the throat — spicy, tangy, and deeply comforting. The acidity was perfectly balanced, making it dangerously addictive with rice. Each spoonful delivered that satisfying pop-pop texture from the roe. So good.

Steamed Seafood Platter
A massive tray of perfectly steamed seafood — shrimp, mussels, clams, squid — the works.
The portion was generous enough for 3–4 people, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. Simple steaming really let the natural sweetness of the seafood shine. No heavy seasoning needed when the ingredients are this good.

If you’ve been craving authentic Korean ganjang gejang without driving down to LA, this spot is absolutely worth it. Perfect for family dinners, especially during the holidays. We’ll definitely be back!

Crab season = soy sauce crab season!
Of course I had to come back to Master Oh for their famous ganjang gejang.

I tried Master Oh earlier this year when they first opened, and now that it’s peak crab season, I had to return — and wow, the crabs are even better now. Super meaty, loaded with roe, and insanely fresh. Every bite was bursting with flavor

What really convinced us to go this time was their weekday evening deal:
Mon–Thurs, 7:30–9:30 PM — such a great excuse to gather friends who love raw marinated seafood

The soy sauce crab ($40) and soy sauce shrimp ($30) are absolute must-orders. So fresh, so rich, and full of umami — pure happiness in one bite.

We also tried the Volcano Wagyu Bulgogi, and honestly… it’s a showstopper. Super dramatic when it hits the table, perfect for photos, and it even caught the attention of the table next to us The broth leans on the sweeter side, so it’s great if you enjoy slightly sweet flavors.

Amazing Korean spot in Santa Clara!
Heard that Master Oh just reopened, so I went to try it — totally worth it. The menu is huge now with dishes you rarely find anywhere else: soy-marinated crab, spicy octopus, beef intestine stew, roe soup…
The soy crab is the star — super fresh, lots of roe, and so flavorful! Honestly even better than the ones I had in LA.
They serve tons of side dishes (like 10 kinds!) and keep refilling them.

Santa Clara Korean Cuisine Midweek Evening 15% Off for the Entire Restaurant!
I’ve been craving Korean food so much lately! This place served an incredibly satisfying Fish Roe Soup! Master Oh 오선생, a Korean restaurant I’d definitely come back to!
My personal favorites:
Spicy Fish Roe Soup: A bowl packed with roe, the broth is savory and rich, and the roe is so satisfying!
Tteokbokki with Ramen: The sauce is sweet and spicy with a hint of saltiness. The rice cakes are soft and chewy, and the ramen has a nice chewy texture. I order Tteokbokki no matter where I go.
Stone Bowl Bibimbap: The crispy rice crust at the bottom of the stone bowl is amazing! It’s so full of flavor, and once you mix it with the sauce, it feels just like a scene from a K-drama!
Pork Backbone Stew: The meat is stewed until it’s incredibly tender! The broth is rich, spicy, and aromatic with a hint of medicinal herbs, and it gets tastier the longer it simmers. A pot of this in the winter is pure happiness.
Bossam (Pork Belly Wraps): The pork is so tender and not greasy. Served with radish slices, kimchi, and sesame leaves, wrapping it all up in one bite is bursting with flavor!

The restaurant has a cozy and clean ambiance, and the service is excellent. One of the staff members was always smiling and kept asking if we wanted to add anything else. They also have a Happy Hour with 15% off the entire bill on weekdays (Mon–Thurs 7:30–9:30PM), which is a great deal!
