We stayed at the St. Gregory over Memorial Day Weekend and was given a $25 voucher to the Ellington Park Bistro each night of our stay. We choose to use our vouchers for breakfast. We thought the food was good – especially the thick cut bacon – as well as our lattes and macchiatos. We also were impressed by our server Angie, who was extremely nice and thorough in making sure our order was correct. I did think the food was overpriced, which is why I was glad to have the vouchers to offset the cost. Other than that, service was fast and the decor was pleasant.

Great Brunch Spot!
Tried this place for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. The French toast was delicious—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not overly sweet. The avocado toast with eggs was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5: a bit of a wait and limited seating. Still, definitely worth checking out!

Pretty good! And pretty expensive. I know everywhere is expensive now but I’m still trying to get used to this new reality. $42 for a small piece of fish feels like a LOT. Good thing it was tasty (this was the branzino). The coconut sauce with the mussels was very good but the mussels were chewy. Fries cooked the way I like ‘em. My favorite was the cauliflower side dish, which had dates in them. Inspired! Had a nice glass of Syrah too. The place is small and cozy. Our server Angie was quirky in an adorable way. If it were 25% less expensive, I’d come here more often. If someone offers to take me out for a business lunch, I’ll suggest it!

Ellington Park Bistro has been on my radar for a while. Nestled in West End, this modern French restaurant is gorgeous and worth a visit. I have yet to fully dine here, but I cannot wait to come back after my initial bar visit. The upscale yet reasonably priced hotel hosts one of DC’s top restaurants. In a cozy and inviting space, with velvet booths and plenty of natural light, you’ll be welcomed by true care, attentive service, and refined elegance. The hosts are quick to seat you. The professional servers and bartenders greet you with a warm smile. Although prices would compare to their Michelin competitors, I felt the service was at the same level, if not better. I am so excited to return and tell you more about the full dining experience.

Food is important, but service is everything! Our waiter Yafa was simply exceptional. He made our Valentines dinner beyond lovely with his attentive, informed and kind service. With only two weeks under his belt, he already had the menu and drinks down to a science. Every recommendation he made was spot on. We’ll definitely come back just to see him alone. Let’s talk about the food though. The escargot were light and delicious. The scallops crudo were some of the best we’ve ever had. The duck confit was the special, and it was exactly as Yafa described. Simply delicious. I’ve never had as good a dessert as we did last night. A strawberry and chocolate delight. Excited to have found a new favorite restaurant.

Decent food, exceptionally poor service. For the price, there are other French restaurants in DC/Nova with similar menus that will offer a far better experience. I cannot recommend Ellington.
Food:
– French onion soup was lacking salt and flavor
– Burger was over cooked and the bun was burnt
– Salmon, steak, and desserts were good
Service: I have never once had an exceptionally rude waiter in DC, until now. Overall, service was a mess.
– Over the course of the night, we had three different servers. The younger gentleman was great, the other two were not. Normally wouldn’t think twice except when one asked us if we’d like to order main courses well after another had already taken our order. The same server then brought out our drinks, and walked away, only to return a few moments later to take one back because it wasn’t finished. Moreover he had switched up the cocktails and who had ordered them.
– Three different times throughout our meal, we felt rushed to finish our food – twice with our appetizers, once when the entrees. For example, we were finishing some fries when one server / manager initially came to help clear our table. We informed her we were still working on the fries. Less than a few minutes later, with some fries still left, and us still nibbling and enjoying our convo, she came back and asked if we were done. At that point, we gave in for her just take it. Maybe there was a rush? But then why did it take fifteen minutes after receiving our dessert menus for one of our waiters to come back and take our order?
– We ordered three desserts but only received two. When we said we had ordered a third, he immediately denied it and said we only ordered two. We then politely informed him we had ordered the first three desserts (of the four) on the menu, to which he replied along the lines of, “well, you should have said them individually by name.”
– The same server not only messed up our drink order earlier, but gave us two more condescending remarks / snide comments throughout the night.
This would be a one star review as the entire table left with a bad feeling and energy, except for the nice decor and the very polite front house staff.

Loved everything about Ellington Park Bistro. The food was wonderful. We split entrees and sides so that we could try as many items as possible and there’s nothing I wouldn’t recommend.
