I’m happy to write this review because it’s about time Michigan City is getting a good Mexican restaurant. After 7 years living here, we don’t often eat here because most restaurants are either corporate or just subpar food. Not today though. We ordered guacamole to add to the chips and salsa they brought with our drinks. Very nice and authentic for all the guacamole and salsas I ordered (3). The margaritas are flavorful and generous. That was encouraging so we added the wings with our cilantro lime and agave hot sauce on the side, delicious. Then a vegetarian, al pastor and fish taco, all were zesty and delicious. With our food buzz on we had to try the tortilla soup and that made me a believer because it is exceptional. Add to the outstanding food and attentive service, they also have a huge dancehall upstairs for live music with a real stage. My hopes are well wishes for Agave Mansion because we need more really good authentic places to eat here so please keep up the good delicious work. Michigan City has another foodie joint. We’ll definitely be back!

We really liked the atmosphere and the chic wings appetizer. The chips and salsa was really good also but it seemed the tacos lacked seasoning. I wouldn’t give them 4 stars I’d say 3.5 but it wouldn’t be fair to give them a 3 since .5 isn’t an option

The reviews state massive burritos but it’s more like average size and they did not know how to wrap a burrito. The torta ahogada is not how it’s described by the menu. The waitress stated that the cooker is new so the food is not as I was expecting based from the reviews. It looks that the cooker does not know how to cook Mexican food! Most likely, we are not coming back! Don’t get me wrong, this place is an excellent place for people who wants to drink but not for eating!

Amazing place!!! The food, MARGS & live music in a really cool space are worth the trip here. If you’re in Michigan City, go!!! I got the chorizo, shrimp & el pastor tacos — incredible! I’ll make the drive up from Indianapolis just to come back. What a gem… now they just need to open one closer to home.

The staff was friendly and their food was awesome! I usually don’t get a burger when I go for Mexican food but the Agave Burger was amazing! My wife got their tacos and loved every one of them (she got 4). Kid friendly and nice atmosphere! Definitely recommend coming here!
