Small-town pub in Tennessee’s oldest town, serving comforting classics, such as fish and chips, bangers and mash, and shepherd’s pie. We offer plenty of vegetable-forward and vegetarian options. We also have interesting local and imported beer and wine.

Stop what you’re doing and eat here!! What a hidden gem . The fish and chips were incredible. I will be craving it for months to come. Seriously the fish was so fresh – in the middle of TN?! The Shepards Pie was delicious. The vibes and energy are palpable. A place full of happy, friendly people !!! I am mad at myself for waiting so long to eat here.

Vegetarian and carnivore friendly! Great spot to bring family with different eating styles. We had the beef Shepard’s pie, the tofu grain bowl, and fritters and fries to start. The fries were perfectly crispy and fresh. Also, their house made ranch was delicious. Great beer menu!

I am so excited this place exists! I’ve been waiting to try it for months now, and it was even better than expected. Really appreciated the friendly staff and the chill atmosphere

Groovy little spot in a groovy little town. Had the fish and chips and the Ploughman’s Plate and both were excellent. Perfectly dressed salad and normal sized portions (appreciated) with excellently crafted house made dips and sauces. Vibe was welcoming and Brit-chic. Service outstanding. It’s pub fare with a pub feel. Great music and nice beer/cider/wine list, too. Highly recommend for a casual lunch or dinner. Bonus points that there’s great parking and just one block away (totally walkable!) is the Tennessee Hills Brewstillery where you can finish the night off with signature cocktails.

Service was good, Atmosphere was good, and the Beer Battered Fish was not the best we’ve had. The fish was a little more greasy than we like, and the batter was falling off. The French fries were very good, and the Carlsbad Beer was excellent. The prices are kinda high for what you get.

My husband and I ventured across this restaurant after we discovered another local restaurant we enjoy was closed. The menu was small, but the taste was mighty. We shared the shepherd’s pie with small greens and sausage rolls with grainy mustard. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. The shepherd’s pie was hearty and filling-a true comfort meal. The sausage rolls were wrapped in a flaky crust and the grainy mustard topped them perfectly. My husband was thrilled to have discovered a taste of Britain just down the road. We will definitely go back to try other items.

We came on a friend’s recommendation. We had fish ‘n chips and Shepherd’s Pie. Both were hot, fresh, and delicious! The fish was perfectly breaded and tasty. Both dishes come with a great salad with fresh mixed greens, sunflower seeds and a light, yummy dressing. Bonus for having Guinness on draft! Highly recommend this place!

A great time to be had at The Opossum’s Tale. The service is incredibly friendly and hospitable. The beer selection is small, but their selection is perfect with a public house in mind. If brown or scotch ales are your thing, stop in.

Had the sausage rolls and fish n chips, both excellent! We ended up getting a second order of the rolls.

Highly recommend for Second Breakfast or Elevensies!

Let me start by saying that the service was amazing and very friendly. Food was good, if not outstanding, but still enjoyable. A solid spot in Jonesborough!

This is my second time here. My first review. I’ve tried enough of the menu to make an educated opinion. I love the atmosphere. The pub patrons are chill and chat if you engage and don’t if you don’t. The food is delicious and definitely encapsulates the flavors my mouth are looking for. The flavors are great in everything I’ve had over the last two trips in. The staff have been glowingly great.

Came here with my family on a whim to fill our bellies before shopping downtown and we were immediately welcomed in with amazing service! The lady who took our order made us feel so cared for and offered helpful suggestions when we needed help with the menu. Our food came quickly, and after eating the most delicious meal, our kids enjoyed the family friendly children’s book all about o’possums while we rested at our table. The nods to nerdiness with soccer culture and Lord of the Rings references made me giggle and feel right at home, and every dish was exceptional. Perfectly charming, professional, and enjoyable in every way. I WILL be coming back!
