The cheese dip we ordered was “medium” but we were served a salad bowl full. It was such a generous portion and very good. Our meals were just fine—my beans tasted like poison but the burrito and rice were tasty. My girlfriend thought her chilaquiles were fine, but not traditional. Though, not something she would order again.
The server was nice, but never came to check on us after serving our food (despite us being 1 of 2 people in the restaurant). I don’t typically like to comment on the appearance of women, but I will say that another woman working there combined with the general atmosphere left me feeling like the restaurant was like visiting my filthy, trashy cousin’s house.
Overall, it was just fine. I think if the owner would invest just a tad on repairing the bathrooms and seats, giving it a deep clean, and perhaps giving the wait staff uniforms (or at the very least, a dress code), plus a bit of training, it could be a very nice restaurant.
I don’t know how to rate “atmosphere”, because it gives basic Americanized Mexican vibe, except smaller, but the food is anything but!
Ok it’s April 5 2025. We have been several time since my original post. They opened the new Mexican Restaurant in Monticello on the square since my last post. I am not going to lie. The one in monticello is a little closer for me.The restaurant in Monticello is very up to date. There is no telling how much they spent on the renovation. If you want to compare the two retail spaces, Monticello would win. They probably employ 20 people. I am going to give an example. It’s like trying to compare an older style ace hardware to s brand new Home Depot. They are in two diffent leagues. But I don’t know if i drank coke in the past or what. The sweet tea was the best that I have ever had in my entire life. I have lived in ga my entire life. My heritage were native americans mostly and I am just telliing you the truth. Stop and get a large sweet tea to go and tell me I am FOS. i pretty much get roughly the same thing at every mexican restaurant I go to. I switched it up and figured out the Taco De chorizo is bangin! if you don’t know Chorizo is like ground pork sausage. If you are a barbeque guy or gal, it aint Barbeque. But you woukd appreciate the sugestion. This is more your mom and pop small quite restaraunt. The service was great, the chips are always coming, and you gotta try that sweet tea!!5 stars for me!!!! I am not sying anything negstive about the other restaurant. Try both or switch it up and do them both in rotation. This restaurant is way to good and their menu has too many options not to visit. It is nice having the luxury in choosin more than one mexican restaraunt. Whoever makes that tea made my day!
