Our experience here was absolutely amazing! We went here for our anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night. 🙂

You won’t get any traditional pasta dishes here – it feels more experimental new American, which was quite different from our experience at Sushi | Bar (where we got exactly what we expected). The dishes were nonetheless creative and very thoughtfully crafted, and you’ll leave full.

Also, be prepared for a hefty bill. It’s definitely a pricey meal. But it was a very unique, unforgettable experience and since we went here for our anniversary, we wanted exactly that. So we think it was worth the price.

The biggest stand out here is the service and the experience itself. This was the best service we’ve ever had at a restaurant in Austin. The entire staff was so kind and accommodating and made our anniversary feel so special. Also shoutout to Kira!

Don’t be fooled by the star! Had a really mixed experience here. With a name like Pasta Bar, we expected more pasta focused dishes but what we got were more vegetable and meat based dishes instead. While most dishes were tasty, the pasta felt like an afterthought and we just did not feel satisfied.
The service and ambiance however were top tier. The pre and post dinner areas and treats were tasty. However not worth the high prices we paid.
If you wanna go to a cool spot and watch the chefs cook and basically do a tasting menu with cool dishes sure this is a decent special occasion spot. But you can get much better for your money in Austin.

Pasta Bar delivers a striking first impression. The ambience and atmosphere are exceptional—warm, refined, and thoughtfully designed to evoke the intimacy of a chef-driven culinary experience. The staff is polished, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, and the service reflects a standard on par with top-tier contemporary dining.

The food is undeniably ambitious, creative, and beautifully executed. Each plate feels curated, and the kitchen’s technical skill is evident. In fact, one dish in particular—the ravioli—stands out as quite possibly the best we’ve ever had, a genuine highlight that showcases the culinary team at their best. Many offerings lean plant-forward, and the result is a menu that feels innovative and modern.

However, while the dishes are elaborate and the experience as a whole is memorable, we found ourselves struggling to align our expectations with the restaurant’s approach. With a name like Pasta Bar, and a menu that suggests pasta-centric dining, we arrived anticipating an evening where pasta would be the unequivocal star. Instead, we often found the pasta to be secondary or even understated within the composition of each dish—at times difficult to locate or overshadowed by the supporting ingredients. For example, the rigatoni course consisted of just three pieces of pasta, with the majority of the dish focusing on its vegetable components. Perhaps this philosophy is intentional—an exploration of pasta as an element rather than a centerpiece—but it was not the experience we expected.

In the end, our impression is complex. Pasta Bar is an extraordinary experience, and for diners who appreciate highly conceptual cuisine where pasta plays a supporting, interpretive role, it will likely impress. But for guests arriving with the expectation of a pasta-forward menu befitting its name, there may be a measure of disappointment. The execution is admirable, yet the alignment between concept, naming, and expectation feels faintly misdirected.

Found this place after watching the Micheline show on Apple TV

Everything you could expect

The evening starts with handmade hors d’oeuvres, and a custom drink, followed by a small intimate dining experience at a chefs table

There were eight chefs for the eight clients at the chefs table. The personal experience from each chef explaining what we were presented, and ingredients that went into it was simply amazing.

It’s hard to describe the flavors and care put into every dish

While a bit pricey the experience is so amazing

Went to Pasta Bar this evening and every dish was a unique experience! It starts with a welcoming drink and appetizers in the first room. Then you move to the main dining area where you can watch the chef and his team in action—something I absolutely love! The precision, coordination, and passion they put into every meal is incredible.

The experience finishes in a lounge-like area with another cocktail and more desserts. Every dish blew us away with flavors and presentation. We read reviews beforehand mentioning that people left hungry, but I honestly don’t understand how—that’s not the case at all! The service is excellent, and the combination of a top chef, skilled team, and talented bartenders makes this a must-try experience.

One of the best fine dining experiences we’ve ever had around the world. It is such a unique experience across 3 rooms in an intimate setting with the chefs, and dishes that each bring so many different flavors from around the world. The restaurant isn’t about making a show with over the top food displays but instead is about the surprising flavors and depth in each bite. Flawless food and hosting, more deserving of a Michelin star than any other restaurant in Austin.

Had a great experience here last night with a friend! The service was amazing and the food was so delicious. The wine pairings were spot on and we loved hearing the stories behind the wines we were drinking with each plate. A special experience and would love to come back!

This “dinner in 3 acts” exceeded even the lofty expectations my friends set for for me and my wife. The experience is unique as the evening unfolds in 3 distinct “moments”..

Upon arriving, we sat at the “bar” right inside the entrance. I put bar in quotes as it served as both our pre-dinner drink area and the location of our pre-dinner courses. The bartender and the chef could not have been more pleasant and the drinks and food were the perfect set up for the evening. At different times they would play the part of Houdini and show up later to make our evening more enjoyable

Next we moved into the main dining room, a cozy room with a completely exposed kitchen, so we could watch all the amazing work unfold. The food was incredible (photos to come later) with each course so well thought out and creative and consistently perfect in presentation. The team that worked together that night seemed as if they had worked together for decades with the precision of a ballet or symphony. They all seemed to know exactly when our group of 4 wanted to move to the next course/experience, were never intrusive….just incredibly engaging, energized and knowledgeable. The chef from the bar made an appearance at dinner. Our group of 4 had a difficult time choosing a “best dish”

We chose the wine pairing (almost always do) and the experience MAY have been the highlight. The wine pairings were unique and spot on. However, it was the stories tat made this part of the evening top notch. The sommelier had a deeply personal story for each wine- where it came from and why it was chosen for the exact dish. My wife and I could not remember a more memorable wine experience.
Finally, we were escorted to the after dinner room for a aperitif and the final courses (dessert). As with the first 2 “acts”, the room was cozy and inviting and we never felt rushed. Our magician/bartender appeared to chat with our group, ask about our experience and cap our evening of in style.
In summary, our PastaBar experience was one of the most unique and special dining experiences our group has had in decades. I HIGHLY recommend the experience.

NOTE: It is a bit hard to find (maybe just for me), but well worth the adventure.

Went here last night with my best friend. We LOVE Sushi|Bar, Craft Omakase and this type of experience. Unfortunately this was a big let down. Just one of the dishes was memorable (mini taco during the canapé service), the rest were good but nothing special taste wise. I will say they were all beautifully presented & artful. The thing that really drove me crazy was that for such a small space, they didn’t serve us all at the same time. This meant we’d hear the chef’s spiel for our course, but then we’d hear it again every time that course was served to other guests. It was robotic & distracting, totally killed the ambiance. We paid $900 for 2 people – this included $125/each for the caviar & truffle addition, 1 drink each in addition to the welcome drink & a 20% tip. There are a lot better restaurants in Austin for the same amount or less. Also disappointing – the truffle added nothing to the dishes. Usually truffle is a strong noticeable flavor, not here. The service was good, not great or personable at all. I was expecting a full on experience, maybe they were just having an off night.
