The setting is wonderful on the sixth floor and next to the pool with a sprawling outdoor deck. Service was good and they were on it! The food is just meh. In SoCal the bar for tacos and Mexican food is high; and if you are going to charge a premium for these it better be good. Had the tacos and tuna ceviche and it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good. Everything just tasted odd and off. I would go back if the menu was updated but all the food was weird.

Came for lunch and ordered the Ceviche “Atún Pacífico” which was $22. The server told me that it didn’t come with chips and that I would have to buy it separately which is ridiculous already. The amount of food is just pathetic. The food itself is mediocre at best and took almost 20 mins to come when there were maybe 10 other people at the restaurant.
The servers are nice, but the quality of service isn’t great. Forgot to give me a spoon so had to wait another 10 minutes before I can flag someone down.
Rooftop is cool, but that is about the only good thing about this place. I will never pay to eat here again and just go across the street to real restaurants.

Had a great experience coming here to eat for my friends bday. The food was great, loved the ambiance and our waiter Quin went above and beyond. I really liked the vibe here and food price was pretty good for a hotel.:)

Quintessential rooftop bar-restaurant, LA poolside with sun and view of Baldwin Hills hiking hot spot. Tasty Mexican meal with mezcal cocktail. Today mid-day, mid-week, quiet and perfect. Friendly staff. If I were staying at this hotel, I’d definitely book again for this dining place alone.

Beautiful atmosphere with the pool. The Brussel sprouts were great as was the tuna ceviche. We both enjoyed the carnitas taco more than the mushroom one. Wish they had more items for lunch. Will definitely have to return for happy hour.

We tried this place during dine LA and had the $25 menu special. It was quite a good amount of food. The guacamole was very generous. The carne asada and carnitas tacos were very dry and hard, over. Needed salsa. The chocolate dessert cake was Dynamite! It was very difficult to find the restaurant, there are no signs that it’s on the sixth level, we had to ask the hotel reception. Parking is a fortune.

We ate here for breakfast a couple times on our recent trip and had great meals both times. The first time we had the butterfly breakfast, bagel and lox and the kids blueberry pancakes. The second time we tried the chilaquiles, avocado toast, and the yogurt, berries and granola. The wait staff were friendly. The portion sizes match the price. The ambiance is nice in the open air patio next to the pool. They have a fire place and heaters when it’s chilly.

New owners for the rooftop bar/restaurant at The Shay Hotel. Pretty good for tapas and light dining. I got their Carnitas Taco and it was juicy with crunchy fried pork skin on top. The Camerones Negro were made with with a strong black garlic sauce that gave it a very savory taste. The Salt and Air Margarita is so good here too. Salted foam on top that takes the margarita to a more elevated level. Service was friendly and helpful in picking out their highly recommended dishes. No validation for parking unfortunately here if you parked valet or a garage.
