The food here was hot and fresh. I ordered the chicken wings, yams and macaroni and cheese. The wings were crispy and perfectly cooked. The yams were good just a bit chunky for me and the sauce was too loose for my taste but still enjoyable. Mac and cheese looked like it was maybe cooked the day prior but it was good enough to eat. My wife had the crab cakes, green beans, and yams. She felt the same way about the yams as I did. She loved the greens beans. The crab cakes consistency was off. There wasn’t enough or any binder put in the mixture. They were mostly wet ingredients instead of a mixture of wet and dry.

I’m not sure who food these people leaving reviews grew up eating but the sides were not good. Can collards, can yams (I knew when the yams came out light and that juice was watery they wouldn’t be good), cabbage bland. Cabbage can be basic and make it taste good! Smoked turkey, chicken broth, pepper! The chicken was PERFECT. Light brown, crispy, seasoned. And the Mac and cheese was good. The crab cake had not flavor either. The sweet tea was good.

I ordered salmon pasta the pasta was very dry. The salmon was very dry with no type of taste. I also ordered chicken blackened chicken Alfredo. The chicken was very dry again no sauce. We did get two orders of collard greens. Them were good.

Overall not bad. Food came out hot and fresh. Wings were not bad. They were cooked pretty well. Mac and cheese I do recommend though! Had a nice crust on top and was really good for the price.

Beautiful restaurant and quick customer service. These reviews has me 2nd questioning what food these people are use to eating. This is by far the worst soul food, yet restaurant food I have ever tasted. The yams taste like vodka and super watery. The Mac n cheese is super salty, cheese didn’t even melt. The chicken sliders are decent but wouldn’t recommend. I’m honestly lost for words, this is disgusting.
Edit: This is my first time leaving a review on any restaurant… yes it was that bad. I also wanted to mention the sides were frostbite as if they been stored in a freezer for a few weeks. I should have known when the two families who were dining in plates were still full of food as they were leaving.

My honest review is that this place is fair. The food wasn’t anything that I would say I’ll be back for. Customer Service was decent. Me and my family were the only ones in there for a good 30 mins. It took them about 35 mins to bring out the food. I will give them grace bc it’s cooked to order. The cabbage was mush and the macaroni was winning a smooth 1 star race. The price is fair market price so no complaints there. If I had to recommend anything I’ll say the fried chicken. Overall 3/5.

OMG! my family and I live in upstate NY and here on vacation…we like to go where the locals eat when we are on vacations…. After multiple failed “lunch spot near me” google search’s, I gave it one more go… up pops a picture of chicken wings, Mac n cheese and collard greens…. Plenty of stars so we put it in the GPS. Pulled up to a small 5 or 6 store front strip… ok…. We are still going. We are exhausted, want to sleep and go check in to our hotel. There wasn’t too many people there however they seemed happy. See picture to see what we ordered…. There was not one thing we didn’t like. The Steak pasta was AMAZING!! The chicken wings were crispy and full of flavor. The Mac n cheese.. homemade baked and scrumptious. My 9 year old cleaned his plate, ate off mine and my husbands… then asked if we could come back tomorrow! The answer is YES! If you are looking for elegance don’t bother. Hit up this place and enjoy every morsel put on the table

We found this place while on a weekend getaway. Everything was delicious, my hubby ordered the white meat 2 pc fried chicken w/ potato salad and green beans, the potato salad was ok, but green beans and chicken was excellent. He cleaned his entire plate and that NEVER happens. I ordered 2pc whitening, collard greens and mashed potatoes. Let me tell you, I was happy mad at how ridiculously delicious everything was. I could’ve licked the plate clean. We are very picky on how our soul food is seasoned, and we’re from the country. I could eat here every day. I want the recipe for those collards and green beans, the mashed potatoes were so fluffy and perfect, I didn’t have to add any extra seasoning, which never happens. BEST restaurant I’ve EVER eaten at. Will definitely come back. Don’t sleep on this place. Also reasonable prices for a big portion.

After getting into the US from the Netherlands and craving some classic Southern cooking, we looked around for somewhere to eat. Looking at the ratings for Munchies, it looked pretty good but there were only a few reviews. After eating here, this restaurant deserves more than 5 stars!
I ordered the pork chop, smothered, with collards and potato salad, while my girlfriend got the winglettes with green beans and Mac & Cheese. The food was beyond amazing! Cooked perfectly, seasoned like Mom used to make and the portions fill you up just like you need after a long day of traveling.
Our server, Sultan, recommended the pork chop and he was exactly right on everything! Kind staff with a friendly and welcoming energy, this is the go-to place next to Williamsburg that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, should go to!
