We dined at That’s Amore in Miami and had a mixed experience overall.

Our server, Marcela, was excellent and truly the highlight of the evening. She was warm, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. She guided me well wrt vegetarian options. Being Italian, she explained dishes clearly and made thoughtful suggestions.

The food took a while to arrive, though we were given complimentary bread while waiting. I ordered the Spaghetti Alla Nerano (without shrimp), and my date had the mushroom risotto. The pasta was okay for my taste — I personally would have preferred more sauce or cream. I understand the dish is traditionally prepared a certain way, but I enjoyed it more after adding some salt (just my personal preference). The risotto was decent in taste, although it didn’t look particularly appealing. The truffle fries were quite good, and the virgin mango mojito was refreshing with fresh mint.

There were a few comfort issues during our visit. First, try to avoid the tables with a single large center leg — they are not very comfortable for seating. Additionally, the AC above our table was dripping water. When we informed the staff, they moved us to another table, but the seat cushions there were damp, and the tablecloth had visible glass ring marks. These details made the experience feel less polished.

If you’re visiting during cooler weather, I would recommend requesting a table well inside and away from the entrance door, as it can get chilly near the front.

That’s Amore! The name of the restaurant must have been related to the prices on the menu!!
We fancied an Italian meal and found this on Ocean Drive, just across from the beach. We ordered a starter of bruschetta with our drinks. Unfortunately, the starter came along and the bruschetta pieces were all burnt. The waitress apologised and replaced it with some fresh bruschetta. There were three pieces but as there were four of us, the waitress ordered an extra bruschetta. We were given fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar before our starter. The brushetta was tasty when the second batch came out but two of them were still burnt! For our mains, we got margarita pizza, pizza with baeata and alfredo pasta. We also got fries. The pasta was tasty but the pizzas were a battle to cut. The crust was really hard and I could have done with a jackhammer to cut the crust. On a few occasions, I almost lost my pizza off my plate as I used so much force to try to cut the crust. Eventually, I just cut the crust off and had the rest of the pizza which was cheesy and tasty. The fries were only a small portion and some of them were burnt!
As we were celebrating a birthday, we had a mishap with a birthday cheesecake coming without the sparkler. We had to redo this a few minutes later with the sparkler and we all sang ‘happy birthday.’ The cheesecake was actually quite tasty. Overall, parts of the meal were lovely (authentic homemade pasta) but other parts were unsatisfactory. The waitress apologised for our long wait to sort our bill and pay. The bill was quite high for the quality of the food. I would only recommend this place for the pasta on this occasion.

We had a lovely dinner sitting on the patio at That’s Amore last week. We did not have a reservation, but I would recommend on a busy weekend you should. It’s in a great location. It was walkable from our hotel at the Marriott Stanton. We had drinks and I ordered the special cacio at Pepe with truffle oil and truffle shavings. Homemade pasta is delicious and we had it served in the cheese wheel at table side. The service was wonderful, the staff was very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant and would recommend one of their homemade pastas.

Had a lovely (and a bit chilly) NYE dinner. Staff was clearly super busy but our waiter Tomas was fantastic & provided great service throughout. We had the risotto which was delicious and would recommend, and the fettuccini alfredo which was lackluster for the price. Cheesecake was a great dessert to top off the meal.

Unfortunately this was probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time. We made reservations for 8:30pm and we were not seated till 9pm. The restaurant had a set menu that was NOT advertised so we only found out when we got there. By then it was too late to make another reservation so we bit the bullet. It took forever to get every course. We finally got our check around 11:30pm. That’s how slow the service was. We made a reservation for the dining room because it was supposed to be chilly this evening. We were sat right by the doors so regardless we were freezing the entire evening when we expected to be comfortable. The overhead AC unit was also DRIPPING onto our table. When we brought this to the staffs attention, they did nothing. It was gross. Because the food took so long to come out, the desserts that we had wanted were fully gone so we couldn’t even get our moneys worth. Overall, the food itself was okay but it was NOT worth the uncomfortable atmosphere, lack of attention to hygiene, and insane wait time. Also, you would think a nicer restaurant would have a nice ish bathroom. The bathrooms were also gross. Sadly, this did ruin our special occasion dinner. I would never go back.

Had a fantastic dinner here with my wife… the food and wine were excellent and would absolutely eat here again. The service was very good and Max looked after us very well. It’s not cheap but the value for money is very good.

Really enjoyed the American Bistro . Frederico was an excellent server- and the food was fantastic. The menu offers something for every craving. I enjoyed a Greek Salad with chicken and hubby had the Bistro Burger which was huge & juicy! We loved sitting outside and watching the world go by on Ocean Ave while enjoying our tasty cocktails. Service was professional and friendly.

We chose this restaurant for Valentine’s Day based on the reviews, we expected a special experience. Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Arrived on time for our 8:00 PM reservation, reservation was not in the system. The manager assured us it wouldn’t be a problem and that we would get a good table inside. The “good table” right in front of the entrance door, which was left wide open all night. There was a strong, cold wind coming in. All the people inside were literally freezing. When we asked if they could close the door or move us, we were told that closing the door would make it worst colder because of the ac. They tried to move us to a shared couch with another couple, with almost no space between us. The couch was designed for one party only and was not divided, which meant that if we sat there, the other couple wouldn’t even be able to leave their seats unless we stood up. We were eventually placed behind a column, but the cold wind was still constant. Another issue was that when we made the reservation, no one informed us that the restaurant would only offer a fixed Valentine’s menu. This should be clearly communicated in advance so guests know what to expect. We were warned the kitchen was running about 30 minutes late, which we understood. However, even basic service was extremely slow and disorganized. It took about 20 minutes just to receive water. The Valentine’s fixed menu included a welcome prosecco, which never arrived until we asked much later in the night. The starter (a simple burrata) took 35 minutes to arrive, and less than five minutes later, the main course was dropped at the table while we were still eating. How can you not realize that the table is too small to bring more plates? The person is still eating the starter, the food will obviously get cold, and no one even checks on the table. No bread, no cheese, no “Is everything okay?” or “Do you need anything?” Nothing. The server literally placed the plate and walked away. That was it. When we complained, the second manager we spoke to was dismissive and unprofessional. The main course was taken away almost untouched because I was too uncomfortable and upset to eat. No one asked if we wanted to take it to-go. The same pattern continued with dessert. After a long wait, the server brought two random slices of cheesecake, which was not what we had ordered. He simply dropped the plates and left without any explanation. Only when we asked did he tell us that they had run out of the desserts we selected. No one informed us beforehand or offered any alternatives. At this point, we asked for the check. It initially came to $310, as if we had enjoyed a flawless experience. As someone who has worked in restaurants before, I know how important service recovery is. Even for small mistakes, good restaurants go above and beyond to make guests feel valued and to encourage them to return. That did not happen here. Instead, when I called the manager, his attitude was shocking. At one point he even told me that I should “consider what it costs to come eat here,” which felt extremely inappropriate and offensive. The issue was never the price, but the terrible service. He initially offered only a 15% and to charge the drinks as happy hour, which felt insulting considering everything that had happened.
He admitted that even the basic things within their control were not done: no prosecco, no bread, no attention, no communication. After a long discussion, a second manager asked how we wanted to resolve the situation and offered to charge us for only one fixed menu instead of two. Even after this adjustment, the final bill was $187, which still felt outrageous given that we barely ate and the entire experience was ruined. To be honest, after such a terrible experience, we should not have been charged at all. We left hungry, frustrated, and disappointed. We even had to drive to another restaurant in Doral at 11:30 PM just to have dessert and a drink so we could end Valentine’s Day on a better note.

Very authentic Italian experience, both in terms of food and atmosphere. Located perfectly to view the sunset from South Beach. Staff were polite and helpful, especially Loren, she gave good recommendations and kept a lively mood throughout the meal. Thanks to her my first dine-in experience in South Beach was very memorable.
