Dorothea – Fine Greek: Albuquerque, New Mexico

Few things in life are as delightful as the melodic crisp of a fork penetrating phyllo dough then scooping up a forkful of absolute decadence.

Daniel was our waiter and he did a great job!
He explained that the fish was fresh and never frozen. It was so worth it for a Valentine’s Day dinner treat the shrimp was also jumbo. They weren’t kidding when they said JUMBO! Also have been there for the GYROS and those are great too. That will be another visit soon.

My bestie and I came here for some life celebrations/a girls night and it was perfection! We started with some delicious cocktails crafted by Aliya who provided top notch hospitality. We then got a couple of apps, the tuna tartare and the jicama duck tacos, both phenomenal and packed with amazing flavors. Now we get to the best part.. the grass fed tomahawk steak. WOW. We got it with sides of thier lobster mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The combination was to die for. The steak was perfectly cooked, cut and presented. Incredibly tender and juicy, with a little crispiness on the outside. I was in heaven and so were my tastebuds. 10/10, 5 stars highly recommend Dorothea’s for any occasion!

We love Dorothea! It’s one of our favorite restaurants in ABQ. The food is consistently so good and the vibes never miss. The servers are always awesome — super friendly, attentive, and just made the whole experience feel fun and easy.

The Greek salad is so fresh and flavorful, you can really tell the ingredients are high quality. The ribeye was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked, super tender, and a major plus for me is all the meat is grass-fed. And the crab mac… honestly unreal. So creamy, so rich, and easily one of those dishes you keep thinking about after you leave.

On top of all that, the restaurant itself is adorable inside. It’s so cozy, stylish, and such a great atmosphere. Dorothea is one of those places you can always count on. We will definitely be going back and I definitely recommend you go too 🙂

10/10 Experience!
Had the tomahawk steak and it was absolutely fantastic. Our busser, Aiden, recommended it and he nailed it. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and worth every bite. We paired it with roasted carrots and feta mashed potatoes, which were just as impressive. Add espresso martini to finish the night, Such a great date night spot. We love it here and will definitely be back.

Had great fun at dinner. Took my mother, daughter, and her boyfriend. Cocktails came quickly and were excellent. Had a bottle of wine that was not in the menu that was very nice. Shrimp Cocktail, Bread basket, and Saganaki were above average. Rack of Lamb was my favorite dish but the Bronzino was excellent also. Service was spectacular and didn’t feel rushed, they waited for us to finish our courses before serving the next. Will be again soon!

Dorothea (previously known as Mykonos) is one of my family and I’s favorite restaurants in town! Between the service, food, and atmosphere it has been nothing short of wonderful. They have great specials and live music. Their drinks and wine menu is wonderful and not too extensive so it doesn’t feel overwhelming. You can tell the owner and chef really cares for their customers through the detail and care they took to curate a delicious and unique menu. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients. I highly recommend placing a reservation on Friday and Saturday nights as they tend to be busy. They also have a sister restaurant next door, Meraki. We also love to enjoy breakfast and lunch there as well! Overall, I love to support this local and family owned restaurant.

My family and I have now had several incredible experiences at Dorothea. We loved and admired how the owner, Nicole, came to our table to explain how special each item on the menu is – no use of seed oils, fish flown in from Greece, etc. it’s such a personal touch and made us feel valued that she takes the time to come to our table and speak with us. The atmosphere is gorgeous, the servers are overly kind and attentive, and I cannot say enough about the food. We have enjoyed the perfect lamb shank over orzo, the mouthwatering tomahawk steak, and several other dishes that left us wanting to make this a special, weekly visit for us. I will recommend Dorothea for years to come. Nicole clearly has the heart and passion of her father in all her restaurant ventures. Stop in and be wowed for yourself; you will not be disappointed.

I ordered halibut. It was cooked perfectly. My date ordered the filet. It was cooked perfectly. However both were overseasoned with pepper and it sort of ruined an otherwise great meal, particularly the filet. Also the mushroom risotto was a bit cold but not super cold. The baklava dessert was wonderful.

Service was good. Big bald guy with a beard did a great job. The young hostess who was doubling as a waitress forgot to bring a knife I requested. Luckily, when I asked the guy he brought me one quickly. Not a big deal.

Ambiance was great. Easy to forget you are in a strip mall in Abq in a building sharing a Subway. They did a great job of making you feel like you are in fine dining establishment.

Id go back and give it another go. Maybe next time I would request they go easy on the pepper.

The best thing about this restaurant is the ambiance. The food is way overpriced and shouldn’t be considered fine dining. You even have to pay extra if you want bread brought to your table. The service is horrible. We had reservations for a party of 6 at 6:30 pm. We got seated quickly but weren’t acknowledged for over 1/2 hour. Once our order was finally taken it was the last time we saw our server until bill came which was another hour and a half. We saw this man who we thought might have been manager walking the floor frequently yet he never stopped to check on our table. Although he saw us, water glasses empty and menus still on table. The food came and we were shocked. The Greek food they do serve looked and tasted like it came from the frozen section at Costco. The non greek food tasted horrible as well. We had high hopes for this restaurant because we prefer to support local businesses but unfortunately we will not eat at dortheas again. This review includes all 6 who were in attendance. None of us will be back.

If you’re looking for the best Greek food in the state of New Mexico look no further than Dorothea Fine Greek. I have personally tried almost everything on their menu and have not been disappointed about any thing I’ve had. My personal favorite is the Lamb Shank Pasta. But if you are looking for a fancy restaurant with a great environment, amazing service, and clean/healthy ingredients then head over to Dorothea Fine Greek! (I recommend making a reservation due to how popular this restaurant is.)
