About 3 months ago we walked by this interesting little restaurant on a day it was closed.
About 3 weeks ago we stopped by and took a peak in. We were welcomed to take a look around, and then got a brief tour of the place. Cute dining areas. Indoor and outdoor options. The seafood menu looked awesome. We knew we would return.
And when we did (8/2/25), we were the happier for it.
Becca, our hostess (and server) was delightful. We ordered at the front of the house where we were able to look in the kitchen. We later learned that J, the chief, cook, and bottle washer was also the owner. And it was clear to us when he recommended the halibut to my wife, that he took pride in the quality of his offerings.
Once ordered, we took the single table on the patio slightly elevated above the sidewalk. Great for people watching while sipping on our glass of an Italian red, recommended by J. Good call.
I ordered the seafood combo (salmon, cod, prawns) white rice and side salad with a ginger dressing… delicious!
My wife had the halibut, also a J recommendation. And she wasn’t disappointed. The food was perfectly cooked and served, no frills. Neither of us left a morsel on the dish.
We were so very happy to have visited the Village Hut. It is now at the top of our go to foodie list.
Bravo J! See you and Becca again soon.
Folks, these are the family owned and operated establishments that we need to continue to support!

We stumbled by this place as we were looking for a place to finish the evening off at. The place is unique in how the interior is set up with multiple dining area as well as an enclosed patio. I belief the owner was the one working this day and was super nice to us as we decided on what we wanted to do. We ended having a couple of drinks and ordered the special – steak and shrimp plate to share. The food was decent, but the experience was great. It’s definitely a place to come and check out.

The food was great, the chef did a great job cooking the food, fresh and flavorful! Good price too! Would like to come back to try new dishes!
The place is so cute, I like the decorations and environment, it makes you feel like a cozy cabin that services homemade food!

Best kept secret in the
Village. It may look small but that’s deceiving. Check it out, youll be surprised. Food is excellent.

Best of the area, I would eat here everyday. This place has been a locals favorite for a long time. The staff for excellent and go beyond in many ways.
They take good ingredients, prepare them well, and present them in a way that presents their best individual qualities.

Really unique restaurant in Multnomah Village. It’s sort of like a food cart with some indoor and outdoor seating, each room with a unique theme..The kitchen is kinda spread out throughout the restaurant. The owner is really cool and super friendly. The bentos we had were really good as well. I’ve never seen a restaurant set up quite like this but the eclectic nature of it screams Portland. We will be back.

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile and wow…wish I never did. I don’t know where to start because everthing was so bad. The cod, shrimp and steelhead were overcooked and incredible bland, nothing was seasoned. The sauce was terrible and awfully balanced and you get about 1/3rd cups rice, the rice itself was mushy in some parts and fine in others. Vegetables were terrible as well and cooked with what seemed like jarred garlic. The one thing I will give them is that is will be memorable for me in that it might the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life. Picture included was what I saw when I opened the box. Meal was $22

Not your usual restaurant experience, but that’s a good thing! Super fresh seafood, fun and engaging owner and staff and of course really good food. It’s a quirky set up, which I love and they are all about local and fresh and should be supported heavily!
