Absolutely fabulous! My husband saw the tik tok review so we tried on same day. We shared katsu with fries and Mahi-Mahi plate. Large portions for a great price. Absolutely exceeded our expectations. Will try the burger and fries next time. Elise talked us into the banana pudding and we are so glad she did. Banana pudding was one of the best we have ever had.

Hawaiian street food at its finest here on the main land. Sticky rice is doctored up nice and sweet. The coconut shrimp is good and the kalua pork is tender.
Macaroni salad is a must and perfect at this location, seasoned and cooked exactly right.
If you haven’t tried Musubi get it at least once. Might change your mind on spam!
If you want a true Hawaiian local dish, get the Loco Moco… but you better be hungry!

Tucked in the back row of the Stonewall Commons shopping area off Clays Mill Road, you will find the Big Kahuna Hawaiian Barbecue. The food is incredible. Granted, I have only had two of the options. My first trip I got the teriyaki chicken plate which was delicious. But my companion got the Mahi Mahi plate. She gave me a piece of the fish and now I never order anything else. It is literally the best fish I have had anywhere. They blacken thick meaty pieces of the Mahi with spices that grab your taste buds and won’t let go. They drizzle a sauce on top which just adds to the flavor. You also get two mounds of white, sticky rice covered in two more sauces and sesame seeds. If you like sticky rice, you will love the Big Kahuna’s. Finally, you get a macaroni salad. I am not a fan of macaroni salad because it is usually sweet. But the Big Kahuna macaroni salad has a savory dressing that rounds out an incredible plate of food. Friends have raved about other menu options. If you have not been, I would highly recommend it. There is another location in Lexington too. I have not been to that one, but I don’t have any reason to believe that it is not as good as the Clays Mill location.

Great place to eat. Couldn’t get a few items due to fryer equipment issues but Loco Moco and the Teriyaki Chicken were delicious. Will definitely return.

I recently tried a few dishes at Big Kahuna, and my favorite was definitely the mahi-mahi plate! The coleslaw wasn’t my cup of tea, and the loco moco plate didn’t really impress me either. But the coconut shrimp, teriyaki chicken, and tofu were all really tasty! The staff was super friendly, but because there were a lot of people there, our food took a bit longer to come out than usual. I also noticed that a table that ordered their food after us got their food first. Overall, Big Kahuna is a great place to hang out with friends and have a fun time.

We went to Big Kahuna Hawaiian BBQ for lunch Sunday after church. My wife ordered Coconut Shrimp (with sweet chili sauce), rice and macaroni salad, and a side of Spam Musubi. I ordered the “Special” Filipino Pork with Sunny Side Up Eggs (2). The pork also came with rice and macaroni salad. After placing our order at the service counter, it was not too long of a wait for our hot lunches. They all were very tasty!!

We love this place! Delicious.
I wish the chicken curry was a regular menu item. I get it every time I see it posted on Instagram.
The only complaint is from my 6 year old daughter who thinks the artwork is scary. I can’t remember if it’s both locations or just the downtown one though. It’s well done though!

Food is amazing, portion size is excellent, do yourself a favor and try this place out. I had Katsu and wife had teriyaki chicken, both delicious. The fried avocado side was outstanding and better than we expected. Def worth checking out!

A true gem in Lex. Hearty Hawaiian food that hasn’t disappointed. One of the only places I know of to get Spam musubi in Lexington and it’s worth eating.
