I stopped at a nondescript pizza joint in Kirklin, IN for a quick, hopefully passably tasty dinner, on my way to an appointment. Walking in to Empire Pizza I immediately took in the modern rustic decor. A quick glance at the menu strongly suggested that I had fortunately found a much higher calibre restaurant than I had imagined from outside.
The pizza selections were eclectic, but I was not in the mood to juggle leftovers, so I ordered the Empire Grilled Cheese which boasted four different cheeses. For an appetizer I got the caprese. Their version includes cherry tomatoes, small cut mozzarella chunks, shredded basil (of course), and a nice mustard vinaigrette. The grilled cheese arrived with a large quantity of fries, which were thankfully fried in peanut oil. The whole entree including the small side greens was delicious.
Cannolis for dessert were unremarkable. Service was good albeit slow, but they were likely understaffed the night I visited. Prices were quite reasonable given the quality. All ingredients tasted fresh. I look forward to another visit when I’m in town.

I literally had dreams about the BLT pizza after having it and wanting more…This place is fantastic and has an incredible menu for the whole family. Excellent service, quality eats, and apparently, the stuff dreams are made of. 🙂

Everything we ordered was really really good. Had the bread stixs, a couple pizzas, grilled cheese sandwich, and cannol’s. Friendly service, clean, and great atmosphere. We will be back, so worth the 45 min drive.
