First time here. Had a great table with a view of the locks. We ordered spaghetti and a chicken penne pasta dish and both were very good! Our server Todd handled some food allergy issues like a pro and double checked a couple times, to make sure there wouldn’t be any issues! It was so appreciated! It rarely happens.

Confusing right out of the shoot – sign outside says “Freighters Restaurant”. Once inside another sign states “Captain’s Pub and Grille”. I walked through a door into a dining room – no signage and was greeted by a very friendly young lady. The buffet had just ended but she was willing to let me some from the breakfast buffet. I opted for the breakfast menu. It included a picture of Chicken Fried Steak, Eggs, Hashbrowns with white gravy for the steak. I ordered that and a black coffee. She came back from the kitchen to tell me that the Chicken Fried Steak is pictured, but they don’t serve it! What!?!? Well, she’s the messenger, no need getting angry with her. Instead I chose the Breakfast Burrito. Strange. When I think of Burrito, I think South of the border or Tex-Mex not Country. This enormous Burrito was swimming in tasteless white gravy. The sausages were simply breakfast links that were cut up and added to scrambled eggs. No spicy seasoning that I was anticipating. The coffee was lukewarm. It’s a good thing I’m in town for 1 day. Where’s Freighters Restaurant!?!?!?

Service was slow even though there was only one other party eating. Menu wasn’t labeled saying that certain food items were only available for dinner, when told the server just laughed and said that happens a lot. So why not change the menu ? It was a nice restaurant and prices were a little high and not a lot to choose from.

Food was overpriced and terrible. I dont mind paying for quality, but the vegetables were rubbery, cold and unseasoned. The steak , ordered medium, came out twice (sent it back the first time but decided to just keep it the second time since it took so long) well done to the point that it was dry like sawdust and had the consistency of beef jerky. We were there for almost 2 hours because our food took so long to be cooked. The waitress apologized multiple times saying that the cook was really backed up, but the restaurant was mostly empty, maybe about 20% full. Save your time, money and appetite for a better restaurant.

Ordered medium rare prime rib, definitely came well, maybe extra well done. Also ordered a lobster tail with my meal, unlike the prime rib that showed up under cooked. Another prime rib meal was ordered, that was also well over done. The children’s food was good, the pasta was a massive serving, I would say large enough to feed 2 adults. The French dip was mostly fat, and the party melt was extra done. Honestly not sure what the others who have eaten her have gotten, but it must not have been these selections.

The food was pretty good. My BLT had so much butter on the bread that it almost tasted rancid. The Restaurant was beautiful, but we had to go to “three” different entrances to find a wheelchair accessable one! The jambalaya soup was Wow good,but pay attention when she says “it’s a little spicy”

Our experience was good. We walked in at 10:45 for an early lunch, but it turns out they were still on breakfast menu. That worked out OK as it turns out. My wife and I each ordered an omelet. Hers had sausage gravy on top. It was the best tasting sausage gravy I’ve tasted north of Tennessee! (The sausage in the omelet itself was lacking–cut up link sausage, not ground. Oh well)
My omelet was the German Omelet. It had bacon, potatoes and sour cream inside. The sour cream made it awesome!
Service was OK. Not great; not terrible. But I’ve noticed that we aren’t as needy as some people who write reviews 😉
Based on my experience, I can’t find a reason NOT to eat here. It is cozy inside. Nice nautical theme. Directly across from the park where the Soo Locks visitor center and viewing platform is.

My wife and I both ordered steaks here and they were delicious! The sous vide sirloin was incredibly tender and seasoned perfectly. Add to that a magnificent view of the locks, and it made this a wonderful place to dine. We will be back soon.

This was absolutely the WORST meal that any of us have ever had. We ordered 4 petite prime rib dinners, one queen prime rib and one White fish dinner.
The petite dinners were way over cooked. One was sent back and the others stuck it out. The queen prime rib was so cold the fat had turned white not opaque. The white fish dinner was very good.
We told the waitress that the queen was not edible. She did not call the manager but offered to take the drinks off of the bill. Mine was an ice tea and my wife’s was a cocktail.
Frankly if it was just my wife and I, I would not have paid for the prime rib at all. I nor did anyone else wanted to make a big to do about the situation. TERRIBLE.
