I live nearby and recently decided to try their happy hour. I was surprised to find only three items on the happy hour menu – not what I would consider a true happy hour selection. I ordered the gyoza, priced at $6 during happy hour, but the regular menu offers six pieces for $8, so it didn’t seem like much of a deal. Still, the gyoza were excellent and perfectly fried. They do offer happy hour drinks at decent prices.

I tried the crunch roll and was pleasantly surprised by the delightful crunchy toppings. I’ve heard from friends that their chicken wings are excellent, so I’ll be returning to try those on my next visit! The service was fine nothing to complain about. The kitchen staff even greeted me once I walked through the door but I was the only person in there. Great seating areas and very welcoming.

This cozy place is a true gem! A family-owned restaurant, their sushi is fresh, high-quality, and absolutely unforgettable. The Newport Roll haunts my dreams, it’s incredible! You can really feel the love and mindfulness in everything they make. They work so hard—only one server, and she is constantly gracious while smiling and on the run. You’ll feel welcomed; this is the sort of place that remembers you and greets you with a smile. 100/10, can’t recommend enough. My favorite sushi place in Seattle!

Ok so I ordered a Volcano Roll, which on the menu it says Spicy Tuna, cream cheese, cucumber and Avacado, deep fried… What I got was a mess of foul smelling and tasting tuna with what I can only guess is cheddar cheese melted on the top with Luke warm Mayonnaise on top of that. 5 pieces for $16.00. The Pork Dumplings,5 for $12.00 were nothing more than deep fried frozen Pot Stickers, and. I’m still gagging.

A cool little hidden gem with quite tasty food and good service.

Really good sushi, we just had a few items with a beer and sake but will be back to try more based on the first experience.
Great service.
Fair prices.
A cool little bar area separate from the restaurant (which is where we ate). No sushi bar per se (made in an open kitchen) but it was fine.

Oh my goodness, we went for the first time on a Thursday and the food was delicious. The poor server was by herself working the WHOLE restaurant. She was running about but was gracious as one could be with two large tables with kids and another eight or so two tops. The food was delicious even though the kitchen was way backed up — will visit again very soon. Hope the server owner lady gets some help!

Yopparai has a large menu, especially with lots of different rolls to choose from. I had trouble picking only a few because there were a lot I wanted to try. The prices are standard – not too high, but not cheap either. The size of the rolls are standard as well. The prices for wings are now more than $5 higher than Sodam chicken’s.

I like sauce on sushi rolls, so I liked that they put a decent amount on each one. The only roll I tried that wasn’t so great was the Seahawks roll. I would come here again just to try other rolls I didn’t get the first time. The staff is also very nice, but we didn’t get water refills once we finished the water jug.

The food is delicious and the staff are very hospitable. I had the Seahawks roll. It had spicy salmon sauce, cooked salmon, cucumber, tempura shrimp and crab. I am immunocompromised so I can’t have raw food. This roll was perfect for me and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. I also had the gyoza, which was hot and crunch, just the way I like it. The miso soup had plenty green onions, also something I really like! My coworkers had the edamame. I didn’t try any because they managed to devour it before I could, but it looked really good.

The first time I went was with my coworkers. I went back because the food was delicious. My daughter will be here next week and I plan on taking her. They don’t have sushi where she lives and she’s dying for some. I can’t wait to have her try it!

Let’s start with the good stuff! The vibe isn’t terrible. It looks clean and smells good, so it was nice from the moment we entered the door. But it took a turn for the worse as we were seated….

We were seated as for from any light as was possible in the very large and well-lit interior. Big beautiful glass windows and we were seated near the restroom and the closet. The place was literally empty, so it was very strange… Maybe they didn’t like how we looked? The server has no personality to speak of and didn’t say 10 words to us, which was impressive, but not the right flavor of impressive.

We ordered karaage, the YOPPARAI! roll, and the Genki roll. The karaage came first, which was appreciated, but every piece was smaller than my thumb . The YOPPARAI! roll was incredibly disappointing… I expected a big, gorgeous roll at $30, but it was a very small roll (not centered on the plate) covered with a pile of mediocre fish cubes. It was completely sauced out and a little spicy (not as advertised). It was smaller than the Genki roll, which was $17. The Genki roll was the most attractive entree by far, but still just not very refined and too much sauce.

Had the service been a little better I might have been able to identify some value, but I couldn’t find much as it is. YOPPARAI! means DRUNK! in Japanese and I think you might need a few drinks in you to really enjoy this place.

Note: the chefs looked very friendly, but we couldn’t even see them from our dark corner.

This tiny space was a complete delight from the moment we walked in. The vibes and decor are inviting and elegant. The owners were exceedingly delightful and seemed genuinely excited to see every guest.
The food was absolutely mind blowing. The rolls were better than many of the high priced sushi places throughout the city, but not a single roll over $20, in Seattle that is unheard of. The spicy tuna was wonderfully spicy and every roll was a pleasant experience.
They even have wings! What’s more, their wings were better than most places that only sell wings. If I could give them 6 stars I would. Please go!!!
