Last night we went to Poppy’s Tavern in Hatfield — our second visit to this local spot. The staff is very friendly, and the place definitely has that comfortable “locals’ bar” vibe. They offer a nice selection of local beers on tap along with all the traditional favorites.
The soup special of the day was a seafood chowder, which I tried in a small bowl. It was delicious and packed with crab meat — I didn’t notice much else in terms of seafood, but there was plenty of crab in every bite.
For my main dish, I ordered the Cowboy Burger medium rare, though it came out closer to medium. The roll tasted a little stale, and while you could pick up a bit of char from the grill, it wasn’t consistent throughout. I upgraded from chips to fries; they were fine, flavorful enough, but thinner like McDonald’s fries — I personally prefer a thicker, meatier fry.
My girlfriend ordered the Kiddlehopper Burger, a half-pound burger topped with beer cheese, sauerkraut, bacon, and caramelized onions on a pretzel bun with a side of stone ground mustard. She ordered it well done and really enjoyed it — messy, but flavorful. However, she mentioned not tasting much (if any) of the mustard, which is usually noticeable for its texture and tang.
Overall, Poppy’s Tavern is a great neighborhood bar with friendly people and good food. While there were a few small misses, the experience was enjoyable, and we’ll definitely be back.

Finally came around to check out the food, atmosphere and service! It has been over 10 years since I had chicken wings like these. To start, I am very peculiar how I like my wings,I had other kind (Korean and those are delicious) but chicken wings like these it has been years!!! I started dipping them but after a couple bites, just the wing with its sauce was amazingly delicious! these were pretty big wings (12) and only ate 5. Our server was great and checked on us several times, we ate by the bar area and even thou she seemed to be alone at the bar and taking care of the patrons on the other side of the restaurant, she did an amazing job!The atmosphere was nice, quiet at the time we went in. Definitely recommend the wings! I asked mine to be crispy and I was not disappointed! Thank you Bella for your kind service and welcoming us. Will definitely go back for more wings!

It was hard to decide because everything looked good. We decided on French Onion soup & a reuben with fries. Everything came out hot and it was absolutely delicious! The prices were reasonable as well. The owners, Shane & Jessica were great. They went around to all of the tables not only check on the food, but to get to know all of their customers. They are really community-oriented. It made it seem like you were eating with friends. ❤️. Would definitely go back.

First time here with my wife for dinner. We were both hungry so decided to order dinner platters. She had the Give thanks turkey with trimmings bowl and I had the meatloaf platter. We shared a French onion soup as an appetizer. We were both happy that all the food came out hot, nice portions, and not overly salty. Ryan our young server was very helpful and attentive. We live close by in Towamencin and will be back soon.

We love Poppy’s! The staff is always friendly and inviting. It’s a true family vibe. The French onion soup was excellent and my daughter loved the sliders. This is a great place for a family dinner or watching a game with friends. Great job Jess!!

Went there last night for dinner and had a great time!!
A Friday night in December is crazy busy anywhere, and Poppy’s was no exception! However, the staff constantly checked in to see if we needed more drinks, and to even apologize for service being a little slow. I’m gen x and the crowd seemed to mostly be of that group as well! They were playing classic MTV, that stole my heart right away!! Then a little later they had some live entertainment.
We got an appetizer, two entree’s and some drafts. Everything was delicious, cold beer and warm comfort food on Friday night 2 weeks before Christmas!! Love it!!
Can’t wait to go back!
Cold beer, good vibes and classic MTV!

We have been here a few times and found the food to be inconsistent. Previous to this visit we had problems with the quesedillas. Wed night we ordered burgers. My turkey burger was fine. But my husband asked for a well done burger and it came out rare. Sent it back, comes back medium. Yhe man next to us at the bar had the same problem with his burger as well. What is going on here? We want to patronize local business but enough is enough.

Great family run tavern. It was clean, well laid out. Family friendly. Great tavern menu. I had chili and a chicken wrap. It was excellent. Met the owner. Great personality and service oriented. Check them out. I’ll be returning.

We really want to like this place but every time we go the food is usually ok but the service is always horrible! I do not think its normal to have to wait over an hour for food. These poor waitresses either do not know what they are doing, are over worked or both i assume. I have worked in the restaurant business from bartending to diners to fine dining for over 20 years have never have seen this. Communication is key. Love supporting local business but won’t be supporting them much longer.
