Gave it a try for lunch. Went for the Smokin Momma with brisket and ribs and subbed potato salad for mac and got the cherry pie. Mac n cheese was decent but otherwise it went down hill. Brisket had no smoke flavor was cut super thin like pastrami or roast beef and tasted like pot roast but dry and chewy. The ribs were cut so we got more bone than meat and the sauce on it was straight up sweet baby rays. Beans were def from a can, bland and runny. Cherry pie tasted like a microwave gas station pie. For $30+ and the setup out front we expected a little more.

Weak BBQ! Beans were throwback to canned pork n beans but they had a little brisket in them. Potato salad was like from Safeway. Meat was hard as hell! Rock hard. Couldn’t eat the brisket or the ribs. Dropped $30 on lunch that felt very gross.

I have had two separate experiences.
My first was dinner(June 22). I ordered the smoke daddy because my friends recommended it.
The ribs and brisket were burnt and inedible. I assume they forgot the chicken because I didn’t get any. The hotlinks were decent.
They were out of Mac & cheese. So I got two orders of potato salad which was okay. The beans were dry/burnt like they had been left to simmer over on a stove top for hours…and had a whole chicken leg bone in it. The apple pie tastes like motts apple sauce and had a piece of a plastic bag in it.
The lemonade was alright…just tasted like regular concentrated lemonade
They aren’t really set up for payment so you just have to have cash and trust their head math. They do have a QR code for zelle payments right at the pick up area, but they will ask you to pay twice to another account before calling the owner who will check if it went into his account even when you show that the money was taken from yours.
I can’t really comment on the atmosphere since it’s just a parking lot behind an auto shop and a bar. So it’s currently just take out only.
Honestly…this place just isn’t ready at all to be open, this isn’t even a soft open. I’ve worked in restaurants for over a decade and this is an absolute train wreck. Hopefully they can fix the problems which are…abundant otherwise this will be yet another BBQ restaurant to fail in this county.

27 dollars is a lot for a two entree plate. In perspective you can get a fried chicken dinner with rolls and a pound of potato salad for like 18 bucks. Money to spare for dessert and a drink.
I don’t mind paying that price if the food is awesome as good bbq not everyone can do.
This is not good bbq or good food. Got the smoked mama. With beans and potato salad. I wasn’t given an option for sides I was just given potato salad and baked beans and I had chicken and brisket.
The potato salad was Luke warm in parts and had no seasoning (salt). Very bland and unpalatable. The beans were some sort of canned baked bean in which they mixed sausage into it. Again not very palatable and they were also not very warm like the temperature of slight warm tap water.
The chicken was a strange yellow color from some cheap lemon pepper seasoning and had flabby skin. It was also cold in some spots and luke warm in others. The meat was not cooked properly and was very tough and under cooked near the bone. It was not fall off the bone at all and was under seasoned very bland.
The beef brisket was warmer than every thing else but still not warm enough. and pretty Tender but was also bland with no seasoning and no smoke ring just an unappetizing lump of grey.
I considered driving back and asking for my money back, but the lady who served us was pretty glib and rude. Acting like we were inconveniencing her as no one knew what was going on or where or how to order as it wasn’t made clear.
This place is not producing a quality product and not worth the price.

I’m not sure when this place is open. Others have mentioned the same. Google showed that they were open last Friday. No one answered the phone, but I decided to drive out there anyway. I’ll try again, eventually. It would be great to have a decent BBQ place within 10 minutes of Grass Valley.
