Went to Pappadeaux on a Saturday evening with an 8:30pm reservation—highly recommend booking ahead because the wait without one can easily hit an hour and a half or more!
Parking is pretty tight, but once you’re inside, the restaurant setup is amazing—big, spacious, super inviting vibe that screams fun Southern/Cajun energy. The staff was great, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the menu.
The menu is real-deal Southern seafood with that authentic New Orleans flair, and everything tastes like it’s cooked from scratch—no premade sauces or generic junk here. Quality was top-notch: fresh ingredients, made to order, and portions are generous.
The fried shrimp and fried chicken were absolutely bomb—crispy, flavorful perfection . The catfish was well-prepared and flaky, but the real star of the show was the red beans and rice—rich, smoky, and just outstanding. Drinks are highly potent (in the best way) and the pricing isn’t ridiculous for what you get.
This wasn’t my first, second, or even close to my last time here—Pappadeaux consistently delivers, and I’ll be back again and again! Highly recommend if you’re craving that true Southern seafood fix.
We arrived around 8:00 PM on a Tuesday night. Despite the restaurant being only about half full, we were told there would be a 25-minute wait due to understaffing. In hindsight, we should have left — but we didn’t.
After about 10 minutes, we were walked all the way to the back corner of the restaurant, passing plenty of open tables along the way. Our server was very friendly and seemed to genuinely try, but the overall service breakdown was impossible to ignore.
It took over 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and when they did, they were disappointing. The signature Old Fashioned had a maraschino cherry, and we were told the bar was out of sugar for sugar-rimmed margaritas — not what you expect at this price point.
Requests throughout the meal went unanswered:
-Extra lemon butter sauce for trout never arrived
-Red pepper flakes requested by another guest never arrived
-We waited 20 minutes for hot sauce and 10 minutes for 2 people to get flatware
-No refills were offered
Once the food hit the table, our server visited only twice more — once briefly and once with the bill. Surrounding tables were left with dirty dishes stacked and untouched.
There were two bright spots that saved the evening:
Our family still made the best of it and celebrated together
The food we did receive was excellent
The trout was expertly cooked (though light on crab meat), the spinach dip was outstanding — creamy, flavorful, and paired with perfect toast points. The pasta was tender and filling, the shrimp were excellent, the fried oysters were done just right, and the baked potato truly showed up ready for the party.
We did speak with the manager. While she was professional, she lacked empathy and warmth. We were told we were not allowed to push tables together for our group — even though additional guests had already arrived and their food and drink orders were placed before appetizers came out.
The contrast was frustrating: fantastic food paired with extremely poor service and hospitality.
This visit was a big miss, which is disappointing because Pappadeaux is usually a reliable choice. Sadly, this location may be better suited for to-go orders only.
The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The standout for me was the seafood gumbo. It was hands down the best I’ve ever had, even better than some I’ve tried in New Orleans! The rich flavor and generous portions of seafood made it unforgettable.
All in all, I highly recommend Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. If you haven’t been, you’re missing out—definitely go check it out!
This location is probably my fifth or sixth Pappadeaux location I have been to.
Unfortunately, this location has the worst service.
The host greeted us and seated us. My friends and I sat at the table for more then ten minutes without have any server or anyone greeting us to let us know someone will be there to serve us. I had to get up and personally go tell the host to send a server over.
He server assigned to our table was very friendly. So kudos for that.
As for the food, they don’t have the same fish glaze the Plano, Texas has. The blackened seasoning was too dominating making the grilled fish I enjoy tasted too salty.
My friends and I enjoyed the crawfish and shrimp fondeaux.
Gator bites are tender and worth the try.
