I have traveled the world with roots in Texas. I stopped by this restaurant because my son said it was good. He said I should try the Gumbo. Well, I know good gumbo when I taste it. Authentic gumbo, that is. And this place has it. The Roux was on point. A deep, darker color. The spice mixture was excellent. I took some hot sauce and he said, “try it first”. I didn’t need any extra flavor. The stock had turkey neck bones, beef sausage, shrimp, and whole crab. Perfect combination! You might not like it. But then we won’t be eating at the same place, and that’s alright!!

I just ordered food from this place at politic row in dunwoody and the prices are ridiculous. Not only are the prices ridiculous but they gave very small food portions. A shrimp and fish plate was $28. He comes with fries and two pieces of bread. Very small portions I am totally regretting spending my money here.

Let me just start by saying I don’t understand why this place would have under 4.5 stars! This place was so good. The gumbo was out of this world. It was some of the best gumbo that I ever had! I highly recommend to also get the fish and shrimp! This place is honestly amazing and I’ll definitely be back

I visited on Dec 15, 2025. When I walked up to the counter, I waited for service while the owner appeared to be occupied on his phone—possibly texting or handling business. There was no immediate acknowledgment, which set the tone a bit off.
I ordered a red-based jambalaya ($13) and a side of catfish ($6). Unfortunately, the jambalaya did not meet expectations. It tasted as though it had been previously frozen and reheated rather than freshly prepared. The sausage was tough and lacked freshness, and the rice was inconsistent—some parts were cold, while other grains were undercooked and hard. Overall, the dish felt clunky and lacked appeal, with very little meat mixed in.
The catfish was also underwhelming and didn’t stand out in flavor or texture. Based on this experience, I would rate the meal 2 out of 10. While I might consider giving the restaurant another try for a different dish, I strongly recommend avoiding the jambalaya.

Serving fried fish and plain white grits is a choice. I was really disappointed as it was tasteless just oil and dreams. At this price I feel robbed and purchased a meal from another vendor as it was that bad. Time to rethink this option or add a picture so folks know what they’re getting.
