My friend and I’s actual IDs were confiscated from this bar for at least half an hour. We both went to UNL, from out of state, and have drank/ate down in the Haymarket many times before and have no issues with our ID’s. We are over 21, and never dreamt of having a fake ID. As we walked into the bar, we willingly provided our IDs and expected the routine check of them and nothing else. The bouncer claimed that mine and my friends’ were “obviously fake” when they are not. We asked why he believed these IDs were “fake” he refused to tell us and was condescending then treated us like idiot teenagers when we are both over 21. He called 4 other men over who all also agreed that our actual IDs looked fake. We felt pretty intimidated even though we weren’t breaking the law, and it devolved into us into calling Lincoln dispatch non-emergency line. After 20-30 minutes the manager conveniently gave us our ID’s back as the cop was walking up to the bar. They gave us a free round, but it was honestly a terrible experience. If you’re a young woman in your early twenties i would be cautious coming to this place. We understand that there is a fake ID/underage drinking problem in Lincoln. However there is also value in simply believing you customers.

The young door man was letting people cut in line ahead of others and letting people in as some of the people exited. When our group got to the front of the line, he could only let one person in, so I went on and he asked how many were on my group and I told him. A few minutes later he let a different group of people in ahead of the rest of my group and argued with me about the number of people in my group. He was rude and disrespectful.

The food was what you expect at a bar, as was the atmosphere. But to call the service poor would be a improvement. We waited 45 minutes for 2 cheeseburgers and fries. We could have gone to a steakhouse and had food cooked faster. Considering they are across the street from a arena that regularly has concerts, I would think they would monitor the concert schedule and have extra staff on nights there is a event next door.

We went on a Saturday late afternoon. It was not busy, however the food came out cold. We ordered Tank’s loaded nachos ( menu description crumbled beef, queso, lettuce, black olives) we got a cold plate of hormel chili, queso, sparse lettuce and olives). We also ordered pretzel sticks (which were overcooked so the ends were hard). The jalapeño poppers, were ok, but the wait staff forgot about them so they came out after we were done with the other food and our drinks. Would not go again.

The “bar food” is pretty decent, but the best cuisine I’ve had from there is the brunch. It makes you feel like you’re not at a sports bar. The only downside is that brunch is only on sundays. I appreciate how hands on and interactive the owner and managers are when it comes to us customers. I also love live music, so that’s a cherry on top.
