Prices, Menu and Drinks: Above average beer selection. Some nice craft beers and old staples. Prices are fair but options are limited. I had to get a the “Little bit of everything” ($23.99) because there was no option for a pick 2 or pick 3. I wanted Brisket, Pulled and Sausage. I had to get ribs, chicken, pulled and sausage and missed on the brisket (almost). The waitress was nice enough to snag me a slice just so I could try it. The “Little bit of everything” had great portion size and I had plenty to take home. It included two sides and a texas toast. Wife got pulled pork platter. Good portion size, two sides and toast (10.99).
BBQ, Taste and Sides: I love BBQ and have been to tons of “spots”. This is not the best but its up there.
-The Ribs are by far some of the best I have had. They are fall off the bone. So if you are one of those that likes their ribs still firm this may not be for you. Rub and taste was great. Good smoke ring and crust. AMAZING RIBS!
-Next best was the sausage. Nice, large link with great taste. The only problem my wife and I had with the sausage was that the casing was not crisped. There was no crunch and the bites were actually soft when chewing. It needed to either be heated up, to get some crunch on the casing or thrown on a grill real quick for that burn. That was my only complaint.
– Tied for second was the chicken. AWESOME! Great skin and rub. It had a good crunch to it which the sausage lacked. Moist and good smoke taste. Great serving size. I really liked it. ALOT.
– Pulled pork was pretty good. Great bark, rub and ring. Good taste just a little to dry for me. Not a lot of fat mixed in which I like, as long as my meat is moist.
– Brisket… I only had a slice but it was average. Moist but lacked smoke ring and flavor. It may have just been a bad slice based on all the other meat I tasted. Everything was great except the brisket.
– Sides ARE GREAT. Awesome baked beans, best potato salad EVER! (other then my place in Americus GA) , great fries and average/below average mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was creamy and did not seem like there was any real cheese in it. Im a god old home style guy that likes cheddar baked on top, this was not it. It was cheesy just not homemade. More like a Shanes Rib Shack, just dressed up.
-BBQ Sauces were FANTASTIC. They had sweet, spicy, white, NC Vinegar and SC Mustard. Wouldnt change a thing with them. However, The bottles they served them in are sticky and do not pour well. It bummed me out because the whole meal my fingers were sticky because of the bottles. Either wipe the bottles down or get a better bottle (Squeeze bottles)… Biggest complaint.
Final: I like this place, a lot. We will be back. Great food, good beer and okay prices. Service was good not great and atmosphere was above average. Loved it I just have a few picky issues. I would suggest they think about adding chicken wings onto the menu because the chicken I had was great. The only thing that would made it better was if it was in wing form!
