Have dined here several times, first few visits were great the owner was working and our orders were correct and service was great. The last two visits we were waited on by a woman who was constantly on her cellphone, overcharged us, and lacked basic service. This evening we arrived and waited until she was done with a cellphone call at the register, we ordered 2 entrees and a side of esquites. Even the kitchen staff did not prepare consistently as in the past. My  birria tacos barely had any meat inside, my wife’s steak fajitas meat were not tender and difficult to chew. We were dining in, I had to ask for sauces which usually always come to the table, and even silverware and napkins to eat with. She brought 1 set of silverware for 2 guests. I got my meal first, my wife’s came several minutes later but no side of esquites. We told her we were missing it and she then had the kitchen make it. Halfway thru our meal the kitchen is ringing the bell for her to pick up our side because she was on her phone…again. Once she brought it over, she said she would get us a spoon to eat it with and then stood at the register on her cellphone. We waited some more, until I had to go to the bar and ask for the spoon she was supposed to bring. Each visit has been a decline in service and food quality, today’s disappointment just marked it for us that we will dine elsewhere when we want tacos or birria.

Don’t eat here!!! El Rey Taco in Stokesdale will DEFINITELY mess up your order and take no accountability.

On October 4th, I placed an order that they got wrong. By the time I realized the mistake, the restaurant was closed, so I couldn’t get it corrected that night. I called the next day (October 5th) to let them know about the issue and decided to give them another chance by placing a new order — asking if they could simply add the missing item from the previous day.

When I picked up my new order, they remembered the beans but forgot my rice. It’s like they don’t even know what comes with their own menu items. When I called again to report the second mistake, the response I got was, “Well, what do you want to do?” I asked for my food to be remade and a refund for the repeated issues and inconveniences.

Instead of taking responsibility, Jen called the owner, Iseal, who assumed I was lying and made me come in to prove it. There was no apology — just a refund for the second messed-up order, and throwing the food out in front of me. I’m still waiting on the refund for the beans from the first order.

Also, be careful when checking your receipt — they add mystery charges. For example, if you order a chicken quesadilla listed at $10.99, you might notice an extra $2 charge for “chicken,” even though it’s already included in the menu price.

Overall, poor service, hidden charges, no accountability, and zero care for customers. I’ll never be returning

I’m so excited to share some of my favorite spots for authentic Mexican cuisine right here in our area! The flavors are truly incredible, offering a genuine taste of Mexico. From savory tacos to flavorful enchiladas, every dish is prepared with passion and tradition. You can really taste the difference when it’s made with such care. It’s a culinary journey that I highly recommend exploring! #AuthenticMexicanFood #LocalEats #FoodieFinds

Born in Texas but raised in Mexico so take this review as highly reliable.

Great tacos, first time we ordered 4 different tacos (asada, tripa, pastor, and barbacoa) in one order and the normal birria tacos.

We went back and this time, we ordered tacos al pastor and quesabirria tacos.

Honestly, this place can be rated as above expectations. Hard to find decent tacos,
meaning far from being authentic, in the Triad area but this place is for sure, our place to go for authentic tacos.

Clean place, fast and friendly service. We like the option for natural flavored waters. Cucumber is my favorite because it is hard to find but all other options are great to have as well.

Everything was AMAZING! My roommate and I had the Birria Burrito, 4 Calle Tacos, tres leche and chori queso. Everyone is super helpful and you feel welcomed from the moment you step in. Definitely coming back again!

We ordered lunch yesterday, 11/15/25. I had the chicken asasda sopes, my wife had QuesaBirria, my sister in law and my in laws went with the ACP and my brother in law went QuesaBirria.

The sope cakes were perfect. Home made and the perfect density. In the past, I’ve had sopes that were too thick and dry. El Rey’s were fresh and on point. The refried beans were delicious, the pollo asado was also tender and juicy, fresh lettuce with cotija, sour cream and cilantro completed this gem. I ate 3 and felt stuffed.

My wife loved the QuesaBirria. She said it was delicious and very well crafted. The rest of the family also raved about their meals. I will definitely come here again and trying something different.

Thank you for the wonderful food.

Best authentic Mexican place in the area. We drive 30 minutes just to eat here. Presentation is always on point with the taste. Everything down to the tacos are amazing. You must get the churros!

I stopped at El Rey Tacos y Mariscos on hwy 220 in Stokesdale, NC on the way home from an appointment. Freshly handmade corn tortillas for the delicious tacos and a menu full of favorites, including birria and chilaquiles in a variety of ways. Sadly it’s not close to my home, but it is somewhere I have to drive by every time I go to a variety of places, so I look forward to stopping again.

I recently visited this taco spot, and it definitely lived up to the hype! I ordered the chicken and chorizo tacos on corn tortillas, and each bite was full of authentic, rich flavors. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy, while the chorizo added a great kick without being too overpowering. The corn tortillas were fresh and held up well, adding that extra touch of traditional flavor that made the meal even more enjoyable.

Beyond the food, the service was excellent—attentive and friendly, but never overbearing. The staff made sure we had everything we needed and seemed genuinely happy to be there, which made the whole dining experience even better. If you’re looking for delicious, well-prepared Mexican food with great service, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend checking it out!
