This is a wonderful spot. Really welcoming, excellent service and great food. I was with a group of 5 and we shared pizza, all are gluten free, a charcuterie board had some fabulous Italian Pinot Grigio and a yummy chocolate dessert. I highly recommended it. It’s suitable for families and dogs in the outside area is outstanding. I throughly enjoyed my time there and will go back for more

Perched overlooking Fairfax creek and near downtown, Public House Marin blends the polish of a lofted dining space with the comfort of a neighborhood lounge. Exposed steel beams, tall ceilings, and the owner’s striking diptych (he’s a painter) give the space an urban energy, while the cozy outside patio and relaxed seating invite you to settle in.

The crowd is as eclectic as the menu—neighbors sipping wine, friends sharing coffee and dessert, families stretching dinner into conversation and games. Staff strike the perfect balance: attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly so you always feel taken care of.

Food is both familiar and elevated. The pretzel is flown in from Germany, the Linzer tart a perfect nutty finish, and the pizzas are local favorites—especially the Mediterranean gluten-free, praised for tasting anything but. After dinner sip a signature cacao mushroom latte — rich chilled and refreshing — and you’ll understand why people linger long after they finish eating.

Public House Marin isn’t just a place to dine; it’s a place to stay, connect, and return to. A true Fairfax gem.

Public House Marin is a great addition to Fairfax. It feels like part café, part beer garden, part community hangout space. The outdoor patio has big communal tables where you can sit with friends or meet neighbors. Speaking of which, we met the owners and they seem dedicated to making this a space for the community.

I was a little unsure at first about the bread being imported from Germany, but it was delicious. We went in the late morning and everything we ate was great.

There’s nothing else quite like it in town, and I’m excited to go back in the evening and try one of the boards with a beer.

Nice space and great vibe. Charcuterie board, panna cotta, and wines were great. The space makes it easy to hold a conversation. We chatted with the owner as well as the people sitting next to us. We will be back.

As a vegan, this is my favorite new local restaurant. They have plenty of options for meat and diary lovers, but I love how thoughtful they are about dietary limitations (particularly vegan and gluten-free) and the diversity of options on the menu seem to make everyone happy!

I visit sometimes for a full meal, but it is also a wonderful place for a light snack and a drink! It feels like a European neighborhood cafe!
