Went in for a snack before a football game on a Thursday.
I’m guessing the time was their “downtime” because they were not thrilled that we walked in the door.
Chips were good.
Our meal was decent, but not delicious. Just a normal Mexican enchilada, burrito and tamale. Nothing worth noting.
I had a pomegranate margarita, not sure how it could be green but it was.
My husband had a double whisky then a single shot.
I never add a receipt, but it’s worth adding this time.
I would try other options next time as their flavors weren’t special and the alcohol price was ridiculous.

Mediocre. Do not let the 4 star average fool you. The cheese dip is flavorless. The beans are bland. The rice tasted like any ordinary rice. If you like unseasoned and bland food be my guest. Over priced for how mid it is. They need to do better. It seems as if they are pandering to people with underdeveloped pallets. There is nothing special about the atmosphere. It’s literally the most mid, unassuming, and forgettable restaurant ever.
I ordered a chimichanga and the portion was small.. you can get a bigger portion for the same price at any other Mexican restaurant in the area.

Wanted to give this place a shot, but we were really disappointed. They charged us for things we did not order. Addressed it at register and they did not take ownership. Cheese dip is also very watery and tasteless. For $114 we could have gone to a much nicer restaurant. Quesadillas good.

Wife and I are on the hunt for some cheap, greasy Tex-Mex in the Vestavia/Hoover area. Up until now we’ve had to go to Los Amigos in Lakeview which is too far away (and prices are hiking up).
Los Rancheros food was delicious, possibly some of the best we’ve had recently. Quesadillas were very good and my wife enjoyed her fajitas thoroughly. Chips and salsa are free but are nothing special. And the Margaritas we had were good too (not too tart).
I have a couple of complaints though, for the weary diner:
1) this place seems like a Vestavia staple, meaning at 7pm on a weekday, the place got FILLED with families and little kids, seemingly out of nowhere, and the kids kind of sucked any remaining atmosphere out of the place.
2) we were not told ahead of time, but they charge a fee for paying with a credit card. They also charge a liquor tax (which may be Vestavia ordinance, not sure). Our bill came out with an extra $10 that we were not expecting.

The food is always good here! I had the Nachos with beef and hubby had Beef Fajitas. Chips and salsa are provided with all meals. Great lunch, just what we wanted. Tables are spaced out and service was top notch! Our favorite local Mexican restaurant.

First time coming here and I was NOT disappointed at all! I’m from Jasper, AL, and my friend rants and raves about their Dora, AL location, and I’m glad she did! The service is immaculate, the food is hot and fresh, and the drinks will take you EXACTLY where you’re wanting to go. I will most definitely be making this my regular spot from now on. Great job Los Rancheros!

I think they were short staffed the evening I went. There were tables left un bused and I detected an unfriendly attitude most of the time. Not sure if being under staffed was the result of the unpleasant vibe, I suspect not. I also am pretty sure I saw a large margarita glass used and served to me that was sitting by itself on the bar… maybe it was dirty I don’t know. It looked ok so I kept my mouth shut. Didn’t want to completely ruin my date night. Anyway, we could of had a much better experience had things been higher quality. The food was pretty good. But we came for the experience of dining out, which was lacking. Won’t visit again. There are too many choices of a better time.

I have been here 4 times with no issue with orderin a childs hamburger till tonight. My son likes Mexican food and I don’t. Well tonight I’m told that it’s for 10 & younger. I told waiter I have gotten it the last 4 times. He checks with manager and tells me it will be additional $2. I say no, tell manager to come out. He tells me he’s very busy, wait a few minutes. I wait, later waiter comes and says I’ll do it this time.
He brings our food, turns face directly to my son and ask does everything look ok. I had asked for mayonnaise, but he never came back. I just ate. He never came to check on us. Saw him check all his other tables.
Went to check out and asked lady if they charge extrea for kids meals for adults. She said she just puts it in. That the man waiting on me was one of the owners. Wow it was the owner being rude to me. I was just not going to eat, till he said he wouldn’t charge me extrea for same meal he sells to families for kids.
They also charge a fee for not paying cash. Only 38 cents, waitress that checked me out said that just started. I just had to ask what “Charge for paying cash” .38 cents. Wonder if you pay cash do they remove it. I wasn’t going to argue over .38 cents, just wondered what it was.
