Hands down the best Reuben corned beef on rye I’ve ever had. Every single flavor was perfectly balanced—from the tender, flavorful corned beef to the rye, dressing, and kraut. You can tell nothing here is an afterthought. My husband who tried the turkey sandwich, found a hidden gem. You can tell the meat was completely fresh and delicious. Portions are more than appropriate. Arrive hungry!
The attention to detail extends beyond the food—the entire establishment is beautifully thought out, warm, and welcoming. The owners Steve & Cheri- and management Alia & Eric -truly go above and beyond, and it shows in how smoothly and thoughtfully everything is run.
This place is an absolute must-try for anyone craving lunch. We will be back without a doubt. What a fun addition to add the Old Mill. Bend needed this!

We just had one of the best lunches. I had a pastrami on gluten free bread. Mike had the rueben on rye. A side cucumber salad. Let me tell you, the taste of the sandwiches was the best we have had in this town by far. They were busy on their first day and it took some time to prepare our order but well worth it. Their portions were big. They have a bar area with some options for alcohol. Great Old Mill location with river views. The owner even came over to ask if we enjoyed our meal.

I’m always down for a good deli sandwich and was excited to try out Stacks. The prices are a bit shocking especially for the quality of food. After paying $24 for a just OK pastrami sandwich with no side except a couple of limp pickle slices, I likely won’t be returning anytime soon. The meat was decent but a small amount and the bread was underwhelming and dry. The design of the space was nice and the location was cool being right on the river. Seems like this place will be more of a tourist trap for summer visitors. There’s much better sandwiches in town

First timer. Love the location, will be some great outdoor seating in the summer. Love the interior vibe and staff- very helpful. Had the Ruben on Gluten free bread. Bread was the best GF I’ve had! The corned bread spot on, and the overall sandwich was excellent. We also had the turkey on GF baguette. Again, bread was wonderful, turkey- ditto. Had the cucumber salad and potato salad, for sure a must! Ended with soft serve ice cream with with great toppings.
Overall only open a week, but already nailing it! Will certainly be back.

Stacks gets 5 stars.
Why should you trust this review? I am New Jersey royalty. My middle name is Gabagool. My great grandfather invented the sandwich.
All these schmucks leaving 1 star reviews, 1. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all and 2. I observed the owner visiting every single table checking in with each guest personally – so if you had a problem you could have put on your Jersey pants and mentioned your displeasure in person instead of leaving a bad review.
This is top notch pastrami, in a classic New York meat: bread ratio, with an appropriate amount of sauce and kraut. The sides are the right size and add some good crunch and acid to the sandwiches.
We had a Reuben and an Italian and both were really good. The Italian does have mayo on it, which is not standard for certain parts of NY and NJ but is not necessarily incorrect.
Listen, if you want Jersey Mike’s or Subway, go ahead. Stacks is not that. This is good, homemade meat in a classic east coast format, served with a smile and by people who genuinely care about your experience. It costs what it costs to run a restaurant these days!
I would say I would put this place in my regular rotation but I don’t wanna die of a coronary at a young age which is why I left New Jersey. I will definitely be back, in moderation.

If you can appreciate a good NY deli style sandwich, this spot fills a huge hole in the Bend food scene. House cured and smoked meats and homemade pie, what else could you want? Although there is still some room for improvement, I think this is quite easily the best sandwich in town and a great ambiance for a casual lunch or even date night.
My wife and I split the smoked turkey and pastrami sandwiches. Both were excellent. If I’m being critical, the pastrami was a touch on the dry side. The smoked turkey was flavorful and moist. The cucumber, onion, and dill salad was a nice accompaniment to the rich sandwiches.
Cocktails were great too. I got the manhattan and it was everything you would want a manhattan to be. My wife got the espresso martini and it was good, but I’m personally not at all a fan of hazelnut flavored vodka. If that’s your speed, then great.
Some reviews mention that this place is expensive for a sandwich. I agree, $20 is expensive for a sandwich. But when the meats are handled with care in-house, I kinda get it. I do think that simply adding some crunchy homemade chips wouldn’t cost a lot to do and would add just that bit more value to justify it. Just my 2 cents.
Great addition to the Bend food scene and especially the food at the Old Mill. We are getting there!

Fantastic lunch in a beautiful atmosphere, well done! I am originally from New York so I was really looking forward to this opening. I had the reuben and it did not disappoint! It is big enough to share, I only ate half and brought the other half home for my husband to try. My favorite part was the pickles, I haven’t had a half sour in forever. So good! Next time I’ll definitely try the pickle platter. A few things that would take the menu over the top would be Dr. Browns Cream Soda, Black and White cookies, and a knish. Thank you for a tasty, nostalgic lunch. I will definitely be back!

Did not live up to my expectations compared to Katz’s Deli sandwiches which I am use to. A good pastrami sandwich typically has thick, juicy pastrami slices not shredded with hearty rye bread. The bread seem like toasted white bread. Katz’s pastrami sandwich shown in picture. Meat was dry no flavor.

Had a great Brisket Pastrami sandwich. I do wish that they would rethink the pickles – a solid Kosher Dill would be better!

I rarely leave a review for restaurants unless there’s an extreme reason to. As you can see by my stars, I thought the service in atmosphere were extremely fine! The owners and the servers were exceptional in every way. The heartfelt sincerity was so important for me to see. They want this place to be very appreciated and successful of course. The only reason I’m leaving this is to help give them my input that I was more uncomfortable to share personally than here on the review. Two of my friends and I went to stacks about a week ago and we’re very excited especially me because I’m from New York! I was so excited about getting some of the traditional taste of the city and of the true New York deli fare. All three of us were definitely disappointed in the food! There was absolutely no flavor at all! Not in one item! I own my own restaurant for 30 years in New York. Customer service and cleanliness and consistency were of course very important but food quality and Taste were so so so important! If the first bite doesn’t allow you then nothing will I kept looking for that first bite from the pot pie to the corned beef to the Reuben to the sides of cucumber, salads, and potato salad, salads, and even the pickles! Shouldn’t a pickle make you pucker either of sweetness or soreness or both? They tasted like a plain tiny slice of warm cucumber… where is the pickling in the pickle? My corn beef was not sliced, but dried out and a third of the height of the true New York City deli sandwiches. Some of that came from just being shredded and not actual slices with a touch of fat. Still there for flavor! There was no flavor! We had to all ask for extra sauce or mayonnaise or anything we could use to swallow the sandwiches. There was very little filling in the pot pie. And what was in there, was thin and flavorless. Anyone that follows even celebrity chefs tell you that there must be flavoring/salt/pepper etc. at least… As much as the wonderful owners care about their customer, please know that I care as deeply for you and the success of your restaurant. The work time, money and soul that has gone into your place has to now flow through your chef. Please follow up with every bite. And make sure that every bite is a WOW! Yvonne from Bend
