Did Tuetano Taqueria close? : r/FoodSanDiego – Reddit

Just curious what happened since the reopen in Chula Vista. Doesn’t seem like Tuetano is officially closed, but doesn’t really seem open either.

A Michelin-Recognized Taqueria Is Back in Business in Chula Vista

Chef Priscilla Curiel has reopened Tuetano Taqueria in a stand-alone storefront along downtown Chula Vista’s dynamic Third Avenue.

Their signature bone marrow birria tacos are on a completely different level: perfectly tender meat, deep savory broth, and that buttery tuétano that takes every bite to another world. You can tell the quality and care that goes into every plate.

The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the whole experience feels authentic and elevated at the same time. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or bringing friends to impress them, this place delivers every single time.

If you love birria, bold flavor, or just great food in general, Tuétano Taquería is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Of course this place is FANTASTIC! Chef Priscilla is a Tuetano Master.

Friendly and helpful staff. The menu is simple but that is the genius of TT.

The birria is solid and full of flavor. The consome was on the smaller size but the broth is clean and not full of red grease. The Salsa Macha is the star of it all. It ties everything together perfectly. Not too hot/spicy but just the right amount of earthiness and heat.

Pricy?? Yes, but there are way more expensive places that make lesser quality food. Just take note of their homemade Tortilla.

On this episode of The Taco Whisperer:

I stopped in to Tuétano Tacuería to try their Birria Torta. First impression was the from the staff. A niece welcome and a smile. I ordered the birria torta and received it shortly after. It looked absolutely delicious. It was very flavorful and juicy just as it looked. I will be returning again soon, gotta try more of their menu items.
5 Stars!

Absolutely delicious Birria! The quesabirria with the handmade corn tortilla is amazing! get it with Tuetano (bone marrow), add some of their salsa macha and thank me later! If you are feeling adventurous, get the Flour Quesabirria, really good size and amazing! May be my favorite!

The food tastes good, but they don’t sell tortillas to accompany the tuetano or the consome, if you need them because even if you order one or two tacos, they are small tortillas and it’s not enough for the extras you order. There is no restroom and today there wasn’t even water to wash your hands, so you wonder if there is enough hygiene in the preparation of the food. The table is very small and unstable. And suggestions are not welcome.

Ordered quesa birrias with tuétano and wanted sides of tuétano and tortillas for a friend who doesn’t eat red meat but enjoys bone marrow and the cashier said he couldn’t sell tortillas that they can only make tacos with them in a rude and dismissive manner… it makes no sense on why they can sell a side of tortillas?

After ordering my friend left an honest review on the rude customer service received. Upon receiving the order the owner confronted her and was very sarcastic saying “ even if you pay me $100 dollars I will NOT sell you a tortilla, we’re a Michelin star recognized taqueria not a tortillería you want tortillas you can get them elsewhere”. Mind you this is a male speaking to a woman in a very confrontational mater to the point she had to step back because he was so agitated.
